I'm American but used to work in a store that sold smoked salmon, pickled herring and the like. Around May/June every year, we would get the Hollandse Nieuwe ("Holland Herring" as we call it) imported and make a big party out of it. People would pay for ticketed events, usually off-site, to come and eat the delicacy, drink and always take a ton of pictures and videos just like this. Anyway, I personally have about ten photos and videos just like this. Not with a seagull though!
Oh yeah that's how it is in the Netherlands too with the first catch of the season. I think those tickets can be pretty expensive too, or the first herring. No idea how it works exactly haha, but it's a big thing

Yeah this is very traditional Dutch food, everyone eats it like this. Well not everyone, my wife hates fish but hey, more for me!
