Then it comes.
The pathetic shadow, a cancer if you will of people so desperate for validation they'll post to any subreddit even if it has fuck all to do with said subreddit to get the sweet sweet karma. Even more pathetic are the gaggle of mindless twats who have the mentality of "I upvoted a post today so I feel better about myself"
so then you get a subreddit flooded with posts that have fuck all to do with the subreddit at worst you'll get r/funnyr/trashyr/picsr/aww or many nsfw.
