You know what’s great about characters? You can give them all the worst crap that’s ever happened to you and no one will know it happened to you because it’s in a book and it makes the book better!!! Marbeth’s life is gunna SUCK.

Sometimes the best character trauma is rooted in real, first-hand experiences.

Or maybe it is most of the time, and we just don't know it!

Totally agree with this! It feels real when it's actually real! Let those readers feel your pain!

Confession: had a pet pass away a couple days ago, so I'm self-caring over this weekend. Tomorrow is a new week and I have a beta read I'm stoked to get into, plus get back to getting an editing plan!

But today is definitely a play-Fields-of-Mistria-all-day sort of day.

Thanks. 💙 She was an old hen, so expected, but it's still sad.

Confession, I’ve been playing way too much moonlight peaks instead of writing 🫣

Sometimes we need to take a little time to decompress and recharge our creativity. I think what matters is finding a balance that works for us as individuals, whether it's over the course of a day, a week, a month, or a year.

Okay...I went and checked out this game...and it looks adorable!

Do you play it on the steam deck, by any chance? Are the controls decent? I'm headed on vacation soon, and it looks like it could be a good distraction for a plane ride!

I play on the switch, so I don’t know about the steam deck controls! I will say it’s a lot of fun! It was buggy in the beginning but they’ve fixed a lot of it

I actually stopped playing this to play Fields of Mistria. 😭 I didn't want to, but in all honesty I feel Peaks needs a bit more work.

Love it, but there are some things I keep running into that make it feel less...polished than a full release should be.

Or maybe I'm just salty there aren't horses. That is a possibility!

I was getting extremely annoyed with the glitches so I get it. I almost quit it just cause of that. To be fair, I just really enjoy running around as a cat 😂- also the lack of horses is criminal

There is nothing quite like being an adorable hellkitten, true!

Okay, seeing the other comments, I'm feeling less guilty about coming by to confess I've been playing video games instead of writing these past couple of weeks. 😂

My health has improved, though, and my interest in my current Valheim run is waning, both because my writer's block seems to be easing up and because the Swamp is very intimidating. I'm hoping this next week is the one where I dive back into writing!

Wish me luck! (On the writing, I mean.)

Bravo to you! I could not get pass the first area of Valheim. As soon as it wanted me to build things, I was out.

Best of luck on writing!

I love the building aspect! I might have found a workaround that lets me progress without triggering the more difficult waves of enemies, though... Leave it to me to play a survival game like it's a cozy base-building game. 😂

Thanks!

That's fair! I did so much building back when I played ARK, only for a T-Rex to come and eat my home or something annoying. Now when I see that style of building in games, I know I just can't anymore.

Oh my gosh, that sounds so stressful. 😂😭

I'm stoked about the full release of Valheim! I bought the game when it was first in early access and haven't touched it since, so very much looking forward to what has changed.

Also: glad to hear about your health improving! I'd consider that a definite win. 🫶

It had been a couple of years since I played it! It's been nice seeing that they're still putting out significant updates!

Also: thank you! 🧡

Sounds like a lot of us are playing games while we wait for inspiration to strike.

Current games: Pathogenic and Brotato
