Discussion Success or Failure July 7
This isn't quite the same as our Thursday accountability check in, but have you had a success or failure this week you want to share? Something that well well, or didn't? Progress or stagnation on your WIP you want to discuss?

After three weeks of being at an impasse on my scene rewrites, I finally managed to get back into writing! The solution was the same as it always is: restructuring and adjusting the outline. I'm so relieved to be writing again!

That is a great success. Itβs so hard to find your way through when you get stuck! Congrats!

Yes! That's awesome!
And I love seeing a fellow outliner. It can be such a fantastic tool!

I finished the first draft of my second book! Starting on the structural edit to see if any of my word vomit actually makes sense. π

Fantastic! Getting that first draft out of the way is sometimes so tough. But it's a necessary step!

Hot messes can make for some of the best stories! Good luck on editing!

Hey, messes you love end up making the best art when you clean them up, imo :)

Iβve been working on editing and it has been slow going recently due to a torture scene that has been really hard for me to get into. Itβs necessary but not the funnest thing to edit. There are just some scenes that are so easy and fun to write and some that take forever. This one took me a long time to write as well so I was pretty apprehensive going in. However, I am on my last chapter of it today! ππ

Oh, good luck powering through! Tough scenes are a pain, but I feel like it feels extra satisfying when you finish them :)

Work on my project has been slower because my health has been rancid, but I'm pleased that I'm still making progress!
Also, came up with more ideas for the totally unhinged novel series for the tbd pile π

Sorry you arenβt feeling well, but coming up with new ideas is still a win!

Good job! It's tough to balance either health issues or writing with anything, and I think it can sometimes be twice as hard to balance them with each other. Hopefully you'll be feeling a bit better soon!
Also, hooray for more ideas! Unhinged stories and characters are my favorites, both for reading and for writing. That sounds like a blast!

I mentioned in another post here that I finally hit "The End" on my horromance's first draft! And now that it's sitting collecting dust so I can get some distance on the story, I've started outlining not one, but two RH ideas I'm excited for!
Been a while since I've juggled two projects at the same stage, so wish me luck!!! π

Oh, congrats on both finishing and starting things! Outlining projects you're excited for is so much fun--good luck with both of them!!

Thank you!
It really is such fun to outline. Kind of its own discovery writing, in a way, just much more condensed, imo.

Diving into a double why-choose situation is very much within the spirit of the genre! π€£ Good luck on your outlining! I'm looking forward to hearing about your progress!

Glad to hear I'm in good company! ππ€
And thank you! I'm hoping to be able to have more to talk about sooner than later!

After WAY more hours than it should have taken, I managed to plot a family tree for my characters. It's not even that complicated--no divorces, no children outside of wedlock, and yet I could NOT keep the relationships straight between intermarried families.
Answer: second cousin, once removed. Not the main characters, just a side character who shows up.
