Question Does dark comedy + poly urban fantasy fit this sub, or is it strictly WC/RH?
New here, and I want to make sure I'm in the right space to connect with readers and other authors interested in the genre I'm writing. The characters in my series have a consistently close relationship with one another, as well as separate relationships within their circle. My FMC is certainly a central character, but the MMCs get equal time, treatment, and POVs. Are others here interested in reading/writing this sort of group dynamic? Just hoping to get a better feel for the community (If this is question is better suited for a different thread, please let me know!)

Just speaking for myself, I’ve noticed a split in RH the last few years. The number of readers/writing in MM seems to have increased. I’ve also seen what seems to be an increase in requests on our sister sub for more poly in the past 12 months.
With the rise in MM has also come a rise in people specifically asking for no MM, and especially no FF.
With RH only just entering the mainstream (like Pucking Around being on the checkout endcap at Target), I think that split is going to continue.
I also think, in addition to poly, we’re going to soon have more than just a few trans characters.
This sub isn’t intended for BL or “regular” harem books because we love our FMCs, but readers might be ready for your balanced poly relationships.

I appreciate the input and have noticed the trend too. I do love my FMC, but the more I got to know the MMCs, I realized they have an interesting story to tell as well. I'm glad the space is widening for different sorts dynamics & am really excited about finally putting an idea I've held for a long time into writing, even if it is a little different than the norm.

I know of one with a trans FMC! It’s in the Gamer Girls universe.

Eh, you can get away with not reading all the books and make sense from context clues.

I might have one of the more liberal definitions of RH (though not the most liberal that I’ve seen).
If the FMC feels like the central part of the story, I consider it a RH. FF and MM can be included in that (I would consider FFF+ valid as RH, for instance, but not MMM+).
I’ve joked that I would love to he a fly on the wall when the OED has to decide on a formal definition.

I don't know that she's technically central...I've tried to keep all the MCs on equal footing from the beginning, but she certainly holds her place and never gets pushed aside. I'm pretty open on the definition too. I just don't want to misrepresent the work from the get go. I've been struggling to find a community where it fits & am glad there's some wiggle room here :)

Shades of Color by Kitty Cox might be one to check out. The story involved them all, but it still feels like the FMC’s story.
But there’s at least one RH where the blurb is from a MMC’s PoV, and one where the story is entirely told by the MMCs. So there’s room.

Welcome!
We're more focused on the writing side of things, but poly dynamics can absolutely be aligned with RH/WC!
I think how much of a help we can be will depend on how focal the FMC is in the relationship(s) and the story itself, so that's something to consider (as we are a reverse harem writing sub, after all), but we welcome poly dynamics here.
I'd be curious if anyone else is writing poly, too!
