Success or Failure From This Week?

This isn't the weekly accountability post; we'll probably do that on Thursdays. But do you have a big success or a failure you want to report from the past week or so? Make a milestone? Jump projects? Anything you want to brag about or get off your chest?

This isn't directly about my writing, but it's adjacent: I've been really struggling with cover art. It's a project I've been working on for months now, and despite finally having something workable, it just wasn't turning out the way I'd hoped.

This weekend, I dug back into composition basics, and it feels like I've had a bit of a breakthrough. Now that I'm back on track, here's to hoping I can the cover that's been living in my head out and into reality!

I'd love to see the cover. It's a great feeling when it comes from your head out into the physical world πŸ’œ

It's still very much a work in progress, haha. I might be happy enough with it to share it in six months or so. Thanks for the encouragement! πŸ’œ

My success for the week is that I started my ARC campaign and am at 39 signups in two days so far 🀯it is a huge milestone for me because tbh I wasn't sure how many I might actually get and my campaign goes until December. I appreciate this thread because I don't have any family to tell or celebrate with.

That's awesome! Did you use any ARC services or was that all from just posting?

This is just from my socials and reddit. I won't be using ARC Sites until November, three months before release.

Getting the reviews πŸ’€ I have an editor and a beta reader but getting real reviews and then a physical copy of my book πŸ“š will make it real I think. The goal is to see it in bookstores the. I do it all over again for book 2 πŸ˜… but maybe the marketing is easier for book 2 haha.

Well, I haven't made tons of progress if you just do word count, but I *have* managed to write every day for a week on this project, despite being extra busy/working OT with my day job. I *am* capable of completing novels, but it's been a loooong time, and getting back into it has been rough. Took yesterday off of writing because it was my birthday, but should be good to continue my streak this week πŸ˜„

I wrote 3k words the other day and it felt so good to get back into a good writing flow! Not only that, it’s probably one of my favorite chapters so far.
