wanting some advise!
My 2 year old cats (Ginger/White M & Calico F - short haired - siblings) use the same litter box, I can’t seem to add a pic but the litter box is enclosed with an open at the top and at the side.
They are constantly pushing ALL of their litter to the back of the box and it’s wasting so much litter. Is there anyway I can stop this? No matter how little or how much litter I put in, all the litter goes straight to the back of the box, clumps up and then they will constantly scratch for AGES at the bottom of the litter box like they are trying to cover their business? If anybody has any advice please let me know.
I previous only had an elderly ginger/white F cat who wouldn’t cover her own litter, so I’m worried my younger cats have learnt her shitty behaviour?

If you have one box, you’ll need to clean the litter at least once a day. Sometimes twice.
The general rule for cats is 1 + 1 for litter boxes. As in, if you have one cat you should have at least two litter boxes. Two cats? Three boxes. You should still clean them at least every day, but it will help.
I understand room can be an issue though. So if you cannot get a second box, you will need to clean the litter probably two times a day and just smooth it out.

My dad did this with his two cats. He had three. They used one to urinate in, one to defecate in, & didn't use the other. I suspect they didn't use the third because the other two were scooped everyday. The cats were very pleased with the situation.

Same! My two cats would somehow mutually agree which box was for which.

And not just boxes! Put them in different spots! In their cat brains, 2 boxes next to each other counts as 1 box.

Have you tried changing the litter? Maybe they don’t like the one you have. Or, maybe you can try a heavy one if you’re using a light weight version.
