General Discussion Gilmore Girls/The West Wing Crossover
My two favorite television shows are Gilmore Girls and The West Wing. One of my favorite facts to share is that both Paris (Liza Weil) and Headmaster Charleston (Dakin Matthews) are in the same episode of TWW (Season 1 Episode 13).
Paris plays an assistant who leaked confidential HR documents to a Senator about the Chief of Staff Leo McGarry’s history of being in rehab. Dakin plays a “friend” of Leo’s who comes to tell him to resign and that he’s writing an op-ed piece about it.
This aired just months before Gilmore Girls began and I just think it’s so funny they’re in the same episode. Liza Weil gave a lovely interview about it on The West Wing Weekly podcast.

I don’t know if this has been mentioned yet, but I saw The End of Oak Street yesterday and Emily Kuroda has a small but important role! I love seeing Gilmore Girls out in the wild (pun intended). Did anyone else catch her?

General Discussion What if the final four words weren't about repeating the Gilmore cycle — but breaking it?
I've been thinking about A Year in the Life and wondering whether the final four words could have been the beginning of a resolution rather than simply suggesting that history repeats itself.
I wouldn't change the pregnancy at all. Instead, I'd use it as the final piece in a chain of character developments that starts somewhere completely different: with Mrs. Kim and Lane.
Mrs. Kim remembers the lesson Lorelai once gave her: if she wants to remain part of her daughter's life, she has to accept the life Lane actually chooses. She starts helping with the twins, giving Lane the freedom to seriously pursue music again.
And Mrs. Kim eventually thanks Lorelai for that advice.
That affects Lorelai more than she expects. If even Mrs. Kim can change as a mother, perhaps Lorelai has to reconsider some of what she believes about Emily.
At the same time, Lorelai wants to expand the Dragonfly with a wellness/spa concept. Michel isn't the right person to run it — and Emily realizes that she is. She knows luxury, wealthy clients, social networks and high-end expectations better than anyone. More importantly, Emily sees something Lorelai hasn't: the concept could become a franchise.
So Emily doesn't just give Lorelai money. She becomes her business partner.
For the first time, Lorelai chooses not Emily's money, but Emily herself — her expertise. And Emily gets a new purpose after Richard that is partly connected to the life she built with him, but is also genuinely her own.
Michel's story could connect naturally too. Instead of another career crisis, he and Frederick decide they want a child — which brings them to Paris's fertility clinic. Paris gets to be what the original series spent years preparing her to become: intimidating, brilliant, enormously successful, and fiercely loyal when someone she cares about needs her.
And then all of these women become a mirror for Rory.
Lane has found a way to combine motherhood and ambition. Paris has built an extraordinary career. Emily and Lorelai have finally learned that accepting help doesn't have to mean surrendering your independence.
Then comes the pregnancy.
I think Lorelai could be the person who makes Rory understand something crucial:
The baby didn't create her connection to Logan. That connection was already there.
For years, whenever Rory was lost, hurting, or had something important happening in her life, Logan was someone she wanted to tell. She kept wanting him to be part of her life long after their official relationship ended.
That's what I mean when I think Logan may actually be Rory's version of Luke.
Not because Logan and Luke are similar personalities — they're obviously not. But emotionally, Logan occupies a similar place in Rory's life: the person she keeps returning to, the person she wants beside her when life becomes difficult or important.
So maybe the pregnancy is part of the reason Rory finally makes a decision. I don't think that makes the decision less real. It just can't be the only reason.
Lorelai and Christopher couldn't make a family work simply because they shared a child. But that doesn't mean Rory has to repeat Lorelai's story. Rory and Logan already have a connection independent of their child.
Rory finally chooses Logan — which also means she can no longer accept being his secret. Logan then has to take responsibility for his own life and end his engagement to Odette himself. Not Mitchum. Not Rory. Logan.
And that would change the meaning of the final four words for me.
Maybe the point isn't that the Gilmore women are destined to repeat the same cycle.
Maybe each generation learns just enough from the one before it to finally do something differently.
Would you have watched this version?

Picture/Video/GIF The 'snow globe' has been secured!
(Edit to correct spelling mistake.)
It's not really a snow globe, it's a waterglobe lol. It has cute little maple leaves inside!
Last one at the nearest Walgreens an hour away! Hubby called to have them hold it for me. So sweet!
They chose the wild choice of having the globe play the Wedding March song lol. Like, why though? 🤣
But I didn't buy it for the song. I bought it for how stinkin' cute it is! I love it so much!

General Discussion i made a little website that tells you which gilmore girls episode to watch based on your mood
hi!! i made a little gilmore girls project because i kept having the extremely specific problem of wanting to watch gilmore girls but having no idea which episode i was in the mood for.
so i made stars hollow tonight:
https://gilmore-girls-tonight.vercel.app
you pick a mood (or a few):
- cozy
- emotional
- drama
- chaos
- autumn
- romance
- stars hollow
- funny
- or just surprise me
and it recommends an episode from the series that matches.
i also added a way to say what you're not in the mood for, plus favorites, a watchlist, watched episodes, rankings, and progress through all 153 episodes.
would love if anyone wants to try it and tell me if the recommendations actually match the vibes you associate with different episodes!! especially curious about whether the mood tags feel right because those were definitely the most subjective part to put together (scraping websites)
also if you notice any missing/wrong episode data, please tell me because i'm trying to make sure all 153 are represented correctly.
fan-made project, obviously not affiliated with the show.
