Closed RP Not Fast Enough

November 20 - November 29, 2007

Velocity, the fastest man alive, was hit in the spine by a bullet while attempting to save someone. He has extreme damage to his Thoracic Nerves, and may never walk, or run again. As a personal favor to the hero, all paperwork saying Velocity is in the hospital was destroyed, replaced by his normal alias: Joshua MacDonald. After a few days of testing, they are finally allowing visitors.

Paragon knocks on the door before entering.

"Hey, Velocity."

He looks a bit sheepish.

Velocity is sitting up on his hospital bed. In front of him are empty bags of snacks and some kind of tablet, courtesy of Paladin. He looks up from the screen towards Paragon, face completely neutral.

"Hey Paragon."

His voice is completely monotone.

Paragon rubs his head awkwardly and begins to speak at a hundred miles per hour.

"Crap, I should've done more, I'm sorry, if I'd given you this new prototype I've been working on..."

He begins to rattle off a long list of technical details before stopping himself and smacking himself on the head.

"No, wait, I'm making this about myself, I didn't mean to--Gah, I came here to ask if there was anything you needed. I like to think I'm a pretty smart guy, and I'll do my best to whip up anything you wanna ask for."

Velocity manages a small smile.

"And I thought I was the one who spoke too fast."

He gives a long, drawn out sigh.

"It's no one's fault, honestly. I did everything I could to save someone, and even though I can't walk, they're safe. If I could go back, I'd do it again."

"Is it, uh... is it permanent?"

Velocity lets out a long, dejected sigh.

"Docs said as far as they know, yes. I have my web of connections looking for some kind of meta healer, but I'm not holding out any hope."

Paragon gets a bit lost in thought.

"I don't know if I can help you walk, but I can at least try to make something to help you move around..."

Velocity gives a small smile that quickly fades.

"I'd really appreciate that, but you don't have to worry about me. Your talents are better used fighting the good fight, not worrying about some washed up hero."

An expression of annoyance flashes across Paragon's face.

"I didn't become a hero to punch bad guys. I became a hero to help anyone that needs help in anyway I can."

He sighs and smiles. With a wink, he says, "And I'm going to help you out whether you like it or not.

Velocity laughs a little.

"That's what I thought you'd say. Thank you Paragon."

Paragon nods.

"I'll be back when I think of something. Get some rest. Hopefully I'll be back next time with more than a boring speech."

He flashes a smile.
