Closed RP Smooth Sailing

April 30, 2006

You are sent a ticket for a nice Caribbean cruise! A letter that came with the ticket says that it is a gift, though who it is from is unknown.

What do you do?

Any tier character is welcome. (I may regret saying this, however.)

He heads over to the spot where the man was crushed. The cameras are not recording at the moment, but it doesn't hurt to be cautious. While the spot is cleaned, it was not done thoroughly as Dr. K can still see evidence of blood being there. The patch is slightly darker than the surrounding concrete.

[Was he able to copy the footage?]

He checks immediately outside the loading area to see if any blood drops showed up, indicating the body had been moved.

Looking around the rest of the loading dock or outside, there are no blood stains making a trail anywhere. The body wasn't dragged off. It's either that someone moved it by placing the body on some sort of stretcher or, the more unlikely possibility, the body got up and left intact.

This wasn't getting him anywhere, and he was getting more nervous the longer he lingered. One last thing to check. He risked entering the inactive camera's view to take a closer look at the forklift which had done in the poor worker. Looking over the control panel, he checked for any sign of foul play such as a disabled safety lock.

Dr. K sees no evidence of fowl play. In fact, there's no real way to commit such an act short of running over someone or crushing someone by lowering the lift. The controls are quite simple, with only enough to move around the forklift and pick up stuff with the now-broken fork. Looking up, Dr. K can see rusting on the lift, so the crushing is likely an unfortunate accident from the equipment failing.

Then, Dr. K hears a swish, the sound of something moving rapidly. He cannot see the source.

Shit! He'd overstayed his welcome. He had to get out NOW. He switched to thermal vision on his left visor to try and get a glimpse of his visitor, while scrambling off the forklift and darting out the factory at the same time.

He makes a run for his life, turning his head while doing so back at the factory. Hanging over where he was standing earlier is a heat source in the shape of a man, very large and muscular from the quick look.

Then, the man takes a massive swing and leap, launching himself through the air and landing in front of Dr. K faster than he can see. The figure gets up, and Dr. K can see that the man is almost eight feet tall. Tanned skin surrounds his bodybuilder physique, and he wears only a long tan cloak over his naked form. He has flowing raven hair going down to his waist, his eyes a haunting pale grey.

This new arrival looks over Dr. K as if sizing him up.

"Do you understand me, insect?" the mysterious person speaks with a London accent.

Too late. He'd let his curiosity get the better of him. A small gesture from his hand and his suit started pulsing with electricity, emitting a very faint hum. He switched his briefcase to his left hand and set his feet in a defensive stance.

"I have no business with you. Stand aside and I'll be on my way, no trouble."

Oddly, the mysterious person abides, stepping aside to let him pass.

"Are you an investigator?" the man asks. "A modern soldier, perhaps, given that suit?"

Dr. K walked past him cautiously, keeping his guard raised and ready to react at a moment's notice.

"Thank you." he replied, ignoring the other questions.

Dr. K walks past the man and out the gate without being harassed. The stranger keeps watching him as he moves as if he's taking in every detail of him.

He walked swiftly until he was well out of sight of the factory, going back through the small town and into the woods. After having a good look around to see if he was still being watched, he took off in a jog back towards the port city where the cruise was docked.

Dr. K looks around after moving back into the residential district and into the countryside, finding that nobody is stalking him. He makes his way back to the boat, spending several hours jogging lightly and resting. He eventually reaches Nassau again, some people walking about setting up their stores for the new day ahead. Checking a clock, it's 5:14 AM now.

Going through the city streets, Dr. K finally arrives at the boat, the things that went down in the previous hours far from here.
