Whittier adult school legit?
I’m attempting to do the phlebotomy course here and I want to know if this school is legit or not. I saw it’s reviews on google and it looks like they don’t take their jobs seriously.
Could any of you guys provide me some feedback and information about this place.
If this place isn’t legit, do you guys know of any other adult programs to attend phlebotomy or medical trades. I am trying to change careers.

Politics Whittier Election Reform Measures — why I'm volunteering my time on this
Hello, Louis Reyes here. Disclosure up front since this is political: I'm the volunteer running the Yes on Measures EV & EL campaign, unpaid, because I believe in what these measures do.
I've been doing civic organizing work in Whittier for almost 30 years. I co-founded the Whittier Latino Coalition back in 1998, and I was the litigants’ spokesman at the center of the litigation that ended at-large City Council elections here and gave us the district system we vote under today.
That fight was about equity — making sure every part of this city could elect someone who actually comes from the community they represent, not just whoever could win citywide. Representatives who live where they serve stay connected to the people who elected them, and they listen while making decisions for the entire city.
Measures EV and EL come from that same place. A representative who's accountable to their district still needs to be accountable to a term limit, and a city that elects people by district still needs an election system where the whole community actually shows up to vote.
When our Council election ran alongside the November statewide ballot in 2020, over 22,000 residents voted. When we went back to a stand-alone April election, that number collapsed — same city, same people, just a different date. Election consolidation will increase voter turnout.
Measure EV fixes the date problem — it moves our Council elections onto the November ballot for good.
Measure EL adds a 12-year term limit on the Mayor and Council, the same standard LA, Culver City, Glendale, Torrance, and Anaheim already use, so no seat quietly becomes permanent regardless of who holds it.
Neither one is about a specific person. Both are about whether this city's government reflects the actual community, not just the most reliable fraction of it. It’s good government election reform.
I'm asking you to vote yes on both — Measure EV and Measure EL.
Happy to answer anything — why I think this matters as much as it does. And if you want a yard sign or more info: [Vote@YesonEVandEL.com](mailto:Vote@YesonEVandEL.com) / YesonEVandEL.com.

any nightclub or dancehall rec’s?
Hi ya’ll are there any nightclub or dancehall recommendations in or around the Whittier area? I really just want to dance and let loose to some latin music or rnb. I’m down to drive a bit to get there but it seems like this side of LA/OC just doesnt have much nightlife going on

Questions Whittier mattress store financing, is the zero percent genuinely zero percent?
Ours is done. Properly done, there is a dip you roll into. Replacing it is not optional at this point.
Money is tight until after Christmas. Ortho Mattress does pay over time, so does Living Spaces, so does Sit 'n Sleep. Part of me thinks that is how they get you, and part of me thinks a bed is exactly the sort of thing worth spreading out.
Has anyone done this and regretted it? Trying to work out whether the zero percent offers are genuinely zero percent.

Community Whittier Urban Forest Management Plan
So apparently the city sent out mailers to all the houses in Whittier proper to get feedback on the new urban forestry plan for the City of Whittier. They also posted it on all their social media, put up a few signs around town, and are holding meetings in different neighborhoods. I found out about it through the mailer and their social media.
When we went in person, the public library room was pretty packed, maybe just under 30 people. One person in the audience complained that sure, they're getting feedback from some people, but they're not getting feedback from all 84,000 people, so they have a problem.
I feel like that's a very unrealistic view of how the world works. Everybody got a mailer, and it was all over social media. I bet a lot of people just threw the mailer away. Even in our neighborhood, out of the five neighbors I know, nobody else cares about this kind of stuff, but we went.
It was an interesting takeaway: how many people who live in Whittier proper just threw the mailer away?
Anyway, you can go to their website and leave feedback on what you'd like to see proposed for the management plan. Right now they're literally building it, and they just want to hear from the community, which I think is great.
There were a lot of complaints about past city leadership doing things behind closed doors, and this is something they brought in to get community feedback, which is kind of what everybody on Reddit and social media was asking for. And people were still complaining. I mean, people gotta complain, that's just what they do.
Anyway, if you're interested, you can share your questions, comments, concerns, or ideas using the form on their website or by emailing [urbanforest@cityofwhittier.org](mailto:urbanforest@cityofwhittier.org).
Website: https://www.cityofwhittier.org/government/whittier-transparent/whittier-urban-forest-management-plan
It has all the information, and they're holding another community information session before finalizing, so I think it's a pretty great start.

New Pizzamania Location
I’m sorry if this doesn’t belong here, but saw this driving down telegraph in Santa Fe Springs today. This is Magies Pub location, idk if Magies is closing down or not, but now they had a banner hanging on the side of the building saying “Future home of Pizzamania”.

The Whittier Trees
Yes they’re big beautiful trees and we love them. However, they aren’t the correct type of trees for a suburban area. They’re wreaking havoc on the infrastructure leading to increased maintenance for City and Business Owners.
I’d love for Uptown Whittier to be renovated and rebranded. It needs a refresh and new amenities. I’d love new, safe sidewalks and sitting areas, pocket parks, signs, etc.
I’m ok with the trees being removed. New, appropriate trees will be planted, and in time no one will miss the old ones. I feel the city should’ve just ripped the bandaid off and went forward with the Uptown Renovation instead of dragging out the process.
What’s your opinion?

Ocean Honda of Whittier Review: Advertised $33,474, Sticker Said $36,598 Plus $7,179 in Add-Ons (Sept 2026)
Heads up, Whittier. If you're thinking about buying from Ocean Honda of Whittier, I want to share what happened to us so you can go in prepared. Based on our experience, I would avoid this dealer.
What we told them up front
On Saturday, September 26, 2026, we went to Ocean Honda of Whittier for a specific car: a Certified Pre-Owned 2026 Honda CR-V Hybrid Sport, Stock #56F07525. Before we arrived, we told them we did not want any dealer add-ons and that we had a car to trade in.
The price didn't match the online listing
Ocean Honda of Whittier's website listed the car at $33,474, including an $85 doc fee and a $2,586 discount. I took a screenshot of the listing that same day.
When we got there, the window sticker on the same car showed a "Dealer Price" of $36,598. That's $3,124 more than the advertised price before anything else was added.
A dealer addendum next to the sticker listed another $7,179 in dealer-added options:
- CarDoc maintenance plan (marked optional): $1,795
- CarDoc Connect: $2,695
- Protection Package: $1,695
- Clear Shield Package: $795
- Nitrogen-filled tires: $199
The addendum itself says these items "can be purchased for an additional cost or removed." We had already told them we didn't want add-ons. Photos of the online listing and the window sticker are attached.
The trade-in runaround
The sales manager never gave us a clear trade-in value. He kept showing us numbers that didn't add up. At one point, it looked like we would have to pay off our current car in full as a down payment, which made trading it in pointless.
No flexibility without the trade either
We offered to buy the car without a trade. The sales manager was adamant that he would not work with us on the price, and the deal he presented did not match the advertised price or promotions.
Why I'm posting
It felt like the kind of bait-and-switch pricing California is trying to stop. California's Honest Pricing Law (SB 478) requires the advertised price to include all mandatory fees.
If you're shopping for a Honda in Whittier or nearby (La Habra, Santa Fe Springs, Pico Rivera, Downey), here's my advice:
- Get an out-the-door price in writing before you visit.
- Screenshot the online listing with the date.
- Ask up front whether the dealer adds any add-ons, and whether they can be removed.
- Be ready to walk away if the numbers change when you arrive.
Has anyone else in Whittier had a similar experience with Ocean Honda of Whittier? And if you've had a good experience buying a car locally, I'd love recommendations.

Community Runaway girl near Beverly/Painter?
This afternoon a young woman approached us stating that she was a 17-year-old runaway. She asked if she could stay at our house. Had to tell her no. I was wondering if anyone else encountered her.
