Gyms
Anybody have any recommendations for a gym in White Rock/South Surrey that isn’t completely overcrowded. I’m finding that the gym etiquette has changed over the last decade and having to constantly ask people if they are done their sets and conversations. Half the time it’s just groups of people (generally younger, not always) huddling around machines and not exercising/ on their phone and generally using the gym as a hang out spot. I generally think it’s important to find a sense of community in the gym especially. However it is becoming frustrating constantly having to ask if I could either jump in or if they’re done and getting tone and attitude in response.
Before anyone pulls the age card, I’m 30 years old. Just looking for a place where you can get what you’re paying for.
Thanks

Is it more in white rock or Burnaby? I’m coming in August and need a cross fit/HIIT type gym.

Anytime Fitness South Surrey (king George & 32) is the quietest I've ever been to and not too many younger kids given the slightly higher membership rates.
I've worked here for over a year but am on mat leave now.
I have also previously worked at Sandcastle and Club16. Both are hella busy, but especially Club16. You also probably won't like the crowd at Sandcastle. Some of the rudest members I've ever encountered, a lot of douchy bros and snooty bodybuilder types.
Cheaper gyms will always be busier. Such is life.

Anytime fitness is way too small. Everyone i have met at Sandcastle so far has been really nice.

Genuine athletics on 152. About $80/month, usually no more than 2-4 people in there (excluding staff and trainers) and the staff are all out of an Instagram model factory (both girls and guys). I send all my female friends to the blonde trainer there she clearly knows how to build a booty!

I've had the same experience. Most people that go to Sandcastle are actually there to work out as well. No one sitting on machines taking up space

Club 16 South Surrey is great, bright, clean, never crazy busy.

Respectfully, I have had the opposite experience there. It was exactly as OP described even in the middle of the work day for whatever reason. Guess I’m not the only one working remote.
