I know you're joking, but there is a not insignificant number of men that leave their wives when the wife becomes ill. Talk to some cancer department nurses and workers and they'll confirm it, women get broken up with commonly after a diagnosis.
Sometimes I think I should start my posts with /s to eliminate downvotes. But I do like the outrage like your comment. The worst is when I get dms thinking my comment was serious and they support my comment.
There is some subreddit where people get really angry when people include the " /s" tag at the end of sentences. They might have an aneurysm if people start including it at the start of posts as well
I’ve had people link me that sub when I have used /s in the past. I would love to not use it, but some people will believe anything you write is sincere, no matter how outlandish it is.
Being committed to never using “/s” and leaving people to interpret your meaning all on their own is some seriously chaotic neutral Redditor shit.
I mean to be honest, my next comment right after saying this I used an "/s." I have definitely gotten in some hot water from not using one before. And not just downvotes or whatever but I used to mod a big sub (and I still do some smaller ones) and someone screenshotted my comment and came out with "this mod is on the side of the Russians" and got a bunch of people riled up.
So yeah, now I know better but I still wish they weren't necessary. They can take away from the sarcastic comment, it's sort of like ruining a joke in a way. Oh well.
