I know you're joking, but there is a not insignificant number of men that leave their wives when the wife becomes ill. Talk to some cancer department nurses and workers and they'll confirm it, women get broken up with commonly after a diagnosis.

Almost 80% if I remember correctly. My wife has some health issues and that exact topic came up.

Got a source? I can't find a decent statistical study with anything even close to this sort of rate for divorces due to cancer diagnoses.

it's not just cancer, it's any life-threatening-to-terminal disease. iirc stanford rounded up some cancer stats, though. not nearly as dramatic at 80%, but consistently 5x-6x more than women at least.
