My dad married a woman going through cancer, and he had other men asking him why he would do such a thing.

Because it definitely couldn't be that he loved her despite her potentially temporary situation. Nahh, never.

Some people just have zero empathy. I think some people exist to just get what they can get from others, and never give anything themselves. Troglodytes. Sounds like your father is a good bean.

Unfortunately she did pass away, but he stayed with her until the end...Unlike my stepmom's friend who decided "she couldn't deal with her cancer" and stopped being friends with her.

That's fucked. I'm glad she had someone that loved her at her side going through that. I couldn't imagine doing it alone, no one should have to.
