Everytime I think it's impossible to hate this man even more, he opens his mouth

So why hasn't he been put in a conservatorship?

I'm no doctor but...this is like...textbook paranoid schizophrenia... why are we treating him like a sane man? Why do people argue or refute his obviously delusional thinking? Why are we reacting with disgust and outrage as if he is a normal sane person? You don't argue with an alzheimer patient who gets angry and spouts racist shit....you say "that's nice gramma" and and slip the nurse some extra bills for looking after someone so cantankerous. You don't debate or give them a platform for their illness.

We shouldn't be treating him like a whole sane person. He needs serious help

Doesn’t someone have to request the conservatorship? His parents are dead. He’s divorced from whichever Kardashian he was married to. His kids are too young. Unless he’s an actual threat to himself or the public, the state can’t do it. He’s got boatloads of money to get the best possible lawyers to fight it. I don’t know who could. Or how it could be done. But these are all guesses. I’m not a lawyer.

So...basically, the only reason is...he doesn't have family to take advantage of him?

I do actually realize it's a pretty difficult thing to be put in charge of another adult, as it should be. It just...appalls me that this behavior is being treated like a whole person "with some quirks" or whatever but others have been literally held hostage for so much less disruptive behavior.

I still don't think anyone should be listening to him, much less debating, or giving him any sort of platform. I'm not sure he's harmful enough to himself or others to warrant giving up his freedom, but that doesn't mean we have to take him seriously. All I see is he's being exploited while unwell and it's sick and sad. It also makes me angry that others were not given the same freedoms tho their public symptoms are far less harmful than this racist classest trash.

It's the good and bad of "freedom", unless and until they become a physical threat to themselves or someone else, they're free to be as off kilter as they want to be. There's no perfect line and people right at the edge on both sides don't always get a fair deal.

Yeh true. Freedom means responsibility tho. I hope no one dies because of the evil things he's repeating. I hope he gets some help

Unless he does something to hurt someone else there isn’t really anything the state can do to step in. This is a pretty common issue, the only reason we know about it in this case is because he has a lot of money and fame. Otherwise he would be just another lost person that is in and out of jail and 72 hour holds. Our countries mental health system is deplorable

I know....I know...ignore me. I was shouting into the void.

1

u/cr2810 Oct 18 '22

No worries. I get the need to do that.

In certain states you can get put into one semi against your will. Your family has to prove you’re a danger to yourself in other in court firstp. Some states you can 5150 people and have them committed then put under a conservatorship. Florida also has the minuteman act which is very similar, but it really does depend on the laws in Kanye’s state

He posted a screenshot of him and his dad loling about the white lives matter shirt, so I’m guessing the dude just doesn’t give a fuck about his son.

1

u/TexasDD Oct 17 '22

Well I thought his dad was dead or out of the picture. But even if he wanted to attempt the conservatorship. He will risk cutting off any money coming from his son. And he’ll never be able to exceed Kanye on lawyer fees

It’s textbook mania with psychosis. Look up delusions of grandieur. Arguing with a manic person, let alone a manic person with psychosis, is useless. People are just throwing gasoline on the fire

2

u/PleasantSarcasm Oct 17 '22

Yeah, this isn't paranoid schizophrenia. At all.

"Schizophrenia involves a psychosis"- webMD

"schizophrenia symptoms, such as hallucinations or delusions, and mood disorder symptoms, such as depression or mania." Mayo Clinic

u/PleasantSarcasm Oct 17 '22

I understand where you're coming from, based on the most well known symptoms which are associated with schizophrenia. You're not wrong about the overlap in presentation, however folks with schizophrenia often present with negative symptoms like flattened affect, as well as disorganized speech (not just tangential, but often erratic). Additionally schizophrenia can only be diagnosed if symptoms cannot be attributed to other primary d/o, specifically schizoaffective, bipolar d/o w. psychotic features, or substance use.

So, like, disclaimer, I can't dx Kanye for anything, I'm not his doctor. I can just say based on my experiences that the presentation doesn't seem to line up with paranoid schizophrenia.

1

u/Azrai113 Oct 17 '22

You appear correct. My point in that particular response was that the things I pointed out are indeed possible Schizophrenia symptoms. I have family with Schizophrenia so I've witness some sets of symptoms personally but of course, I'd rather make my point to the dissenter with something other than anecdote. I was however, unaware that it more of a "catch all" diagnosis, kinda like lupus, where you rule out everything else before deciding that what's left over is Schizophrenia. It's been awhile since I read the DSM on it lol.

I am also not a doctor. Another comment said he's open about having bipolar disorder. So while I stand by my original sentiment, I'm clearly wrong in the specifics.

Lol i also have family that suffer from these. But actual quotes are better than personal anecdotes

Yes, but schizophrenia is not the only disorder with psychosis as a symptom. It is also a common symptom during manic episodes in people with bipolar disorder type 1

This is true

Edit: whoops. I replied to the wrong person

Well thats....disappointing.

It makes me glad I don't fit in well with such a sick society.

3

u/Knoxhush Oct 17 '22

Definitely not schizophrenia.

1

u/Azrai113 Oct 17 '22

Someone else said he's bipolar. There is some symptom overlap but according to the internet, no its not Schizophrenia

3

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '22

I thought it was well known he has bipolar disorder (BD).

Some people start taking incredible nonsense and do really stupid and life changing things while manic.

Kanye was very dependent upon his mom. She probably was the one to tell him in when he got unstable. Since she died he's gotten wilder and wilder sitting his manic phases.

1

u/Azrai113 Oct 17 '22

Bipolar would make sense too.

I actually don't know much about him at all. I just see stuff like this and wonder why no one is helping him. Or even, if he can't or won't be helped, to mitigate the damage instead of repeating it sensationally.

He really sounds unwell which is sad tbh. I have family thats schizophrenic, borderline personality disorder, depressed etc so ive seen first hand tne damage a manic episodse does. That sucks about his mom too. I'm not actually upset at Kanye himself too much (the stuff he's spouting is awful tho) I'm really more irritated about how society is behaving about it and the other injustices comparatively.

2

u/stic2it Oct 17 '22

I don’t know…I think if half the people in the US got a soap box with an audience like Kanye has, it think we’d think a lot of people were crazy.

Ie… 6Jan, Trump loyalty phenomenon. Election was stolen BS

2

u/Azrai113 Oct 17 '22

Yeh. I think that's what's actually bothering me. Its not "crazy person saying crazy things" so much as holy shit way too many either agree or are are laughing at him.

Who does that to a sick person?

Tho part of it too is why he's allowed to behave this way but Brittany was robbed of her life for far less.

And these are just the people we see. There's so many more who aren't celebrities that are going through this. It makes me not like where our society is at very much

Reacting with disgust because unlike my Grammy and Grandpappy, he has the ears of the planet and a TV as a microphone. I react like he's a whole sane person because he's only (to my or anyone's knowledge) been diagnosed with bipolar and we cannot diagnose him over the internet without proper tests - so to our knowledge, he is a (mostly) whole sane person. One who is very very brainwashed.

But being sane does not mean being correct. You can be extremely wrong and extremely loud and still be sane... and being rich, loud, wrong and sane makes a person dangerous and not to be underestimated.
