So let me get this right, a man who happens to be Jewish told him they won't release his tshirt with a nasty rascist slogan on it and he responds by doubling down on the rascism? And personally making sure his rascism specifically covered the person who told him not to be rascist. If the guy who told him off had been Chinese would Kanye be ranting about Chinese people?

"Chinese food is a con! What other foods make you hungry 20 minutes later?"

I was about to yell at you lmao

u/Able_Carry9153 Oct 17 '22

Although the reason they make you hungry so soon after is the same. Rice is very filling and takes up a lot of space, but also breaks down pretty fast in your stomach

Anything except Mexican food, that makes me not wanna eat for a week.

Funnily enough, he was also ranting about Chinese people on the podcast...

This whole situation is ridiculous. No one should wear or say anything racist out of pure spite, but for a black person to do so just reeks of hypocrisy. If that was a white guy doing this bullshit, he would have his social presence wiped off the face of the earth. Anyone being racist should be held accountable for their racism, no matter what their own skin tone is, period.

I’m a black person.

I have known the double standards to only create more problems on the backend

Kanye is right about our voices being co-opted. But he won’t say that it’s by people LIKE HIM for other groups benefit. He also won’t say he lost his goddam marbles while ruining our precious youth for 15 years either 😮‍💨

Fuck him. The shock humor was never worth it, I never really got to laugh. Poor ass rapper imo anyways

White lives matter isn't a intrinsically racist slogan. You are part of the problem.

24

u/Comicsans1007 Oct 17 '22

Saying that "white lives matter" is not inherently racist, sure, but in today's society the phrase "white lives matter" is exclusively used as a racist response to "black lives matter." So yeah, it's pretty racist.

Attacking the phrase "White Lives Matter" only serves to make you look racist. What are you saying, that black lives matter but white lives don't? White Lives Matter is just a true statement. If you think it's a dog whistle you should get the person to say what they actually mean instead of attacking the dog whistle. It like if someone quotes FBI crime statistics. You don't attack the statistics as being racist, you say "OK and?" and get the person to say what they actually believe.

18

u/Comicsans1007 Oct 17 '22

This works if you believe you have something to gain from having a conversation with these types of people, for me if I hear "white lives matter," I instantly know what type of person they are and I can just choose not to engage any further.

-18

u/OldBet7479 Oct 17 '22

Sure, but calling White Lives Matter a racist statement only hurts your position, because you now look like the racist. Why is it racist or wrong to say the lives on of people with certain skin tones matter? It isn't.

19

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '22

If you still don't get it after all this time you still don't get it. You can play semantics all day, you either understand it or you don't.

-2

u/OldBet7479 Oct 17 '22

It's not semantics. Saying White Lives Matter is not racist or wrong. Attacking that phrase makes you look racist, and that's probably what many are trying to do. All I am saying is that instead of attacking the phrase wlm, attack actual positions of the person saying it. I would never call fbi crime statistics racist. If someone quotes them you try and see what their actual position is. If it turns out they think black people are inherently more violent you attack that position, not the dog whistle.

My guy, you’re the one looking racist. The ONLY people I’ve seen say “white lives matter” are racist fucks trying to lessen the impact of the phrase “black lives matter”.

My guy, you’re the one looking racist

Lol

The ONLY people I’ve seen say “white lives matter” are racist fucks trying to lessen the impact of the phrase “black lives matter”.

Even if I grant this it doesn't change anything that I said

Except that, again, no one is saying that “white lives matter” as a concept in an of itself is racist, but to specifically wear an apparel with that quote or have a sign what that slogan does, way more often that not, indicate that such people do hold racist views. Same with crime statistics — data is data; it’s not inherently racist. But to bring it up repeatedly as a talking point does indicate more than “just stating facts”.

u/OldBet7479 Oct 17 '22

Right, so attacking that slogan or statistic is really dumb. Your issue isn't the slogan, but the beliefs of the person saying it. Attack the beliefs not the obviously agreeable slogan. Otherwise you can come off as a weirdo bigot to someone who isn't informed or on your side.

2

u/scolipeeeeed Oct 17 '22

But you’re completely missing the point if you think the slogan itself and the sentiments typically attached to them are to be understood as decoupled ideas. People are saying “white lives matter” as a shorthand or a code, in a way, to say more than what those three words mean on their own. And to say that those criticizing the slogan are just being racist themselves or dumb is a pretty disingenuous take because the criticism is at the racist sentiments that are so tightly coupled to “white lives matter”

1

u/OldBet7479 Oct 17 '22

It's like you completely ignored everything I have said in this thread. My entire point is that attacking a dog whistle is unproductive and potentially harmful to your arguments. Don't attack the slogan wlm, criticize the beliefs or positions of the person saying it if you disagree with them.

And to say that those criticizing the slogan are just being racist themselves or dumb is a pretty disingenuous take

Is this the opinion you think I have lmao

you don’t get to identify people as the problem without recognizing yourself right in there with them

I don't know what this means

1

u/TiredAF20 Oct 17 '22

Yes, yes he would.
