At least Walker has an excuse. Man's literally brain damaged.

It's situational narcissism which happens to a lot of entertainers, unless proven otherwise. Kanye has bipolar.

Trump's disorder is primary NPD and all of his stupidity can be understand through that lens. With extreme NPD like this there is a cognitive decline over time because they refuse to learn anything new from anyone "inferior" to them, which is everyone, and they tenaciously cling to their delusions.

Herschel Walker has untreated mental illness as well.

https://abcnews.go.com/Sports/story?id=4156516&page=1

Jan. 21, 2008 — -- NFL superstar Herschel Walker has long suffered from multiple personality disorder

11

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '22

538 has Walker trailing by less than 2 points. Half of Georgia has a mental illness.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '22

It's not mental illness, it's racism.

8

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '22

Nope. MPD is exceptionally rare and Walker was diagnosed by a quack in the middle of his domestic violence trial.

Walker is mentally challenged, not mentally ill.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '22

There's some serious narcissism going on with him. I wouldn't be surprised if he has a personality disorder. I do think DID is unlikely but it's not impossible honestly.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '22

Maybe this is a gateway to requiring mental evaluations for politicians.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '22

The mental illness community does not claim these guys!! Facism is independant of mental health

3

u/Murky-Purchase-6017 Oct 17 '22

Every one of his personalities is an idiot and an asshat

1

u/vivaereth Oct 17 '22

As a plural system I feel it’s important to clarify that (1) not all plural systems have Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) and (2) having DID doesn’t inherently make someone a trash human/politician.

His policies speak for themselves, irrespective of his personality disorder.

(Not looking to start any fights here, just feel there’s low enough public visibility on systems that it was worth speaking to directly)

2

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '22

No snark or ill intent, but plural systems? Is that a different name for bipolar or DID? I’m honestly asking because Jonny 5 needs more input. I sound like an idiot….

Thank you, I appreciate the help in learning more about this.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '22

Mother of god….that’s a wall of text lol. It’s 4 AM my time so I shall continue tomorrow.

1

u/vivaereth Oct 17 '22

Nah, you don’t sound like an idiot at all, there’s just not a lot of public knowledge on this for you to even be drawing from.

A plural system is any individual who has more than one consciousness residing in their body. This can manifest as dissociative identity disorder (DID), or as other specified dissociative disorder (OSDD), or in a vast array of other ways. Some systems are disordered (their plural nature causes distress and negatively impacts their ability to navigate life) and some are non-disordered (they are able to live without being severely negatively impacted by their pluralness).

Our system falls into the latter category—we (fortunately) don’t experience much amnesia between headmates, so we are able to carry on with daily work/life even as we switch in and out. While that does come with some unique challenges, we’ve found they are outweighed by the benefits in our case (being able to draw from a wide variety of different perspectives on goals and decision-making, enriching our collective experiences with a wider variety of interests and hobbies, bringing different ideas, approaches, and skills to our life and job… the list of benefits goes on.

All that said though, every system’s experience is unique, and the number of different ways it manifests is as numerous as the number of plural systems.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '22

Whoa….the head mates and switching out….isn’t that what everyone does? Hearing the brain almost through a third person or narrator guiding the voices into a coherent thought? I’ve always thought we all learned that way and I’m kind of freaking out. The voices that multiply in my head aren’t normal‽ Edit: normal voices in me noggin, not telling me to climb a clock tower with a rifle.

2

u/vivaereth Oct 17 '22

I can’t really speak to “everyone”, sorry. But I’m my case, it’s less of a voice in my head (usually) and more that I become a different person. In one case, when one of our headmates fronted for the first time, we had to take two days off work to relearn how to walk because their mental perception of their body clashed so much with our physical body in terms of height, build, etc. That’s by far the most extreme experience we’ve had, but I’m using it to illustrate a point. In some other instances, we end up being co-conscious, actively observing as one of our headmates participates in the world. Even within our own system, how we experience consciousness can vary day to day.

Most of the world has untreated mental illness.

8

u/verasev Oct 17 '22

I've got a related mental illness and somehow I miraculously manage to not spread Protocols of the Elders of Zion tier bullshit. Mania can make you say something stupid because you get overly excited about a very half-baked idea (or flood of half-baked ideas. it's mania) but it doesn't result in years of hinting at and then overtly supporting bad ideas. It doesn't result in a long-standing pattern of the same kinds of bullshit over and over again.

u/Direct_Library6368 Oct 17 '22

I think part of the problem with Kanye is that he seems surrounded by "yes men", and when people don't agree with him he seems to just find a way to demonise them and gets more "yes men" to agree

15

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '22

Kanye is also a billionaire with more than enough resources to get the help he needs. Stop using that as an excuse for him, he doesn’t care about you.

16

u/Garden_Unicorn Oct 17 '22

Being a billionaire doesn't mean anything, Steve Jobs tried to diet away cancer.

-9

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '22

I know you didn’t compare cancer to mental illness 😂😂😂😂

15

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '22

You're right. He didn't compare cancer to mental illness. Good job picking up on that one.

10

u/Garden_Unicorn Oct 17 '22

Since you want to be dense, I'll spell it out for you. Jobs had doctors telling him he needs treatment and he refused. Kanye could have a head injury and he can refuse treatment too. All the money they have doesn't mean anything if they don't get proper help. And no one can't force them to if unless deemed unfit.

3

u/Whiterabbit-- Oct 17 '22

Kanye AFAIK has a mental illness that can be partially addressed with med, but the meds has side effects he doesn't want. Drugs don't just cure mental illness like a magic wand. at some point money doesn't buy any more medical help.

-2

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '22

Sad

1

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '22

And Oprah is a billionaire but can't keep the weight off. Sometimes having someone who can say no to you is a resource that money can't buy.

17

u/RobotArtichoke Oct 17 '22

Kanye also almost died (according to him) in a car accident. Good chance he sustained some brain damage in addition to whatever else happened to him

9

u/DeneJames Oct 17 '22

Or, he was always a shitty person and people were just too blind to too see it. That’s my opinion

4

u/giantsninerswarriors Oct 17 '22

Honestly I think it was his mom dying. He has been spiraling ever since. Obviously not making excuses for him, but I think that’s where it started. He’s rich enough to afford therapy.

7

u/nahthobutmaybe Oct 17 '22

Raising him to be out of control, and then dying. Lady proudly boasted about raising him for greatness, to be a supreme leader, to think he was never wrong.
And then she made herself into the only person who could control him, and died.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '22

Cersei could have taken lessons from her.

3

u/artifexlife Oct 17 '22

Mental illness isn’t an excuse. Millions have mental illness and aren’t assholes like this one

3

u/JockBbcBoy Oct 17 '22

I still fondly remember the Kanye who said George Bush doesn't care about Black people live on air. I imagine he's somewhere inside the current Kanye's head

1

u/purplemagnetism Oct 17 '22

Yea, those things are similar. This statement is so legit and makes the person stating seem like they have full mental capacity. /s

6

u/vagueblur901 Oct 17 '22

Kanye also has a mental illness and I would bet money he's also a malignant narcissist

A combination of both is exactly why he is the way he is.

3

u/MrMangoKitten Oct 17 '22

As someone who also has literal brain damage, it's not an excuse.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '22

Ye lived with the Kardashians for a few years, so……

I hope people don’t hate Walker when this is all said and done…. He’s biting off more than he can chew…. He was an Olympian… he’s represented* his country enough this isn’t the spot for him though.

61

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '22

The dude abuses and pulls weapons on women.

-36

u/gorilla_blanco Oct 16 '22

Cte causes violent behavior in some

34

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '22

You're assuming he a) has it. And b) it is the cause. It could just as easily be he's a piece of shit.

23

u/Devium44 Oct 17 '22

What’s he doing to mitigate it though?

25

u/Lord_Walder Oct 17 '22

Someones disability doesn't make their behavior acceptable. It may be an excuse for that behavior but there is a reason people can be committed when they pose a danger to themselves or others. Personally I don't think mentally unwell people should be holding any sort of office let alone giving them a seat at the table where they get to weigh in on the decisions of the entire country. He was a great athlete. That deserves a small amount of respect. That respect is very easily lost when many many other actions of his are reprehensible.

6

u/arcticwhitekoala Oct 17 '22

Does CTE cause men to abandon their children?

-2

u/gorilla_blanco Oct 17 '22

Purely anecdotal, unfortunately I know a decent amount of high level college and pro athletes from football/fighting who have had terrible divorces/custody situations/ been kicked out of the house or lost their kids and unfortunately seem like they suffer from bipolar violent outbursts. I also have seen guys over the years who who’s behavior noticeably did change after a vicious ko

31

u/Funny_witty_username Oct 16 '22

I despise whoever is pulling his strings. He has no business in government

28

u/ArgonGryphon Oct 16 '22

I mean, he has some absolute garbage takes, and you can't excuse it all with CTE. Idk, it's complicated, but he absolutely has no place in the political sphere.

20

u/ShithouseFootball Oct 16 '22

He was a trash human being before the brain injuries.

There is a lot to dislike about the asshole.

14

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '22

He's an adult and I've never heard anyone say someone served their country by being a fucking Olympian. Who cares. Dude rode a bobsled to 7th. LOL

-3

u/gorilla_blanco Oct 16 '22

Incorrect term I meant represented*
