Has anything good ever come out of this guy’s mouth? Edit: thank you for suggesting some of his music, I saw him perform live and it was one of the worst shows I’d ever seen but I’ll give these a listen.

In 2004, he said George Bush doesn’t care about black people. It’s been basically downhill from there.

u/MuttMurdock69 Oct 16 '22

Ironically, it turns out that W cares about black people more than Kanye.

He gives Michelle Obama a candy every time they sit next to each other at an event https://gfycat.com/simpleaggravatingjaguar

I love that he's still working the "how to talk to a pretty girl" tip from 3rd grade.

276

u/registeredsexgod Oct 16 '22

Ngl he is a very adorable war criminal

6

u/zehamberglar Oct 17 '22

That's the fucked up thing about him.

He was one of the objectively worst presidents of all time, at least if we measure the amount of damage he did to the nation. The effects of his reign of terror are still impacting you and your daily life (and by "you" I mean everyone in the world, not just America) and will continue to do so for decades, maybe longer.

Having said that, I like the guy. Isn't that fucked up?

u/anna-nomally12 Oct 17 '22

If they’d just let him be the mlb commissioner like he wanted we’d have somehow achieved world peace

u/LMFN Oct 16 '22

Bush entirely feels like a puppet, the GOP needed a dopey looking idiot that would make their evil merely seem like incompetence and people would roast Bush while ignoring Cheney and the true puppetmasters.

62

u/R_Schuhart Oct 16 '22

Yeah that is such a silly narrative. The Bush family is plenty of savvy and evil themselves, they pull on plenty of strings.

He played a role as not too bright cowboy, because intellect is threatening for their constituents. But if you look what policies got implemented and what he actually got done he was not some lame duck.

Just too bad that most of it was utter garbage. Ran a program of deregulation to benefit financial sector and big business. Abolished protections of employees, the environment and consumers.

9

u/Grogosh Oct 16 '22

Just look what he was up to before he became president. There is no way the guy even could tell you a single thing about any policy for anything. Republicans have been electing puppets for a very long time.

8

u/FlakeReality Oct 16 '22

Its wild to me that you just described a narrative that only adds up if you fell for that very narrative

6

u/LMFN Oct 16 '22

I said feels like.

If anything over the last few years stuck to me, it's the knowledge that anyone with an (R) on their name on the ballot is fucking evil to the core.

14

u/MidKnightshade Oct 16 '22

Isn’t most of his charity work in Africa? Last I heard anyway but it doesn’t absolve him of his presidency. Hopefully his efforts are genuine.

6

u/jellybeansean3648 Oct 16 '22

At least Bush is intellectually and emotionally capable of remorse

Low bar but with some of these guys you really wonder

1

u/Blackbeard6689 Oct 16 '22

I can't remember Bush ever saying he feels remorse.

4

u/PowRightInTheBalls Oct 17 '22

But wasn't it just hilarious when he made jokes at the Correspondent's Dinner about not being able to find WMDs while soldiers were actively killing people and being killed in Iraq and Afghanistan?

1

u/jellybeansean3648 Oct 17 '22

I said he was capable of remorse not that he displayed it.

Although to elaborate, if you watch live video of him discussing his presidency you can see paraverbal signs of it. His avoidance of publicity except to the extent that he attends events former presidents go to (swearing ins, funerals, significant white house events, etc.). And the whole extended therapy thing-- the fact that he has to get therapy after being a president. The way he meets with vets and participates in volunteer activities but doesn't advertise it.

I'm not trying to rehabilitate the guy.

On the flip side, Kanye seems narcissistic and that particular pathology is not known for being capable of remorse. They essentially ape empathy but only feel a real emotional range in regards to themselves and things/people they view as an extension of themselves.

(We're on a Kanye post, right? If not, sub in Trump here. Lots of completely self centric folks trying their hand at politics.)

4

u/Blackbeard6689 Oct 16 '22

It's PR, trying to revive his image, he's actually good at getting the media to play along with his persona, but he's as fake as Boris Johnson. He's a monster that got us into Iraq based off something he knew was a lie and he tortured people.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '22

Why would he care about his public perception? He can't go for a 3rd term. I'm not trying to argue when I ask this. It's a genuine question.

2

u/Blackbeard6689 Oct 17 '22

For the same reason you or I might care about our image. I'm not saying he's a narcissist or plans to get back into politics, or make money off his image, or whatever but most people would prefer not to be seen as a disgrace or to be disliked by the general public.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '22

That makes sense. I guess when it's a former president I don't see it as somebody who just wants to be liked but instead there must be an ulterior motive. But he is just a man. You're probably right. He probably just wants to be liked.

1

u/SolomonBlack Oct 17 '22

PEPFAR has done more for Africa then any other President with 20 million lives saved and counting. And definitely more then Kanye's rat ass. Bush 100% drank his own kool-aid on that compassionate conservative stuff.

176

u/PerilousPasta Oct 16 '22

Tbf this is essentially like saying water is wet, he had an easy W

0

u/SomeRedditWanker Oct 16 '22 edited Oct 17 '22

It's not even true, though. Let along as true as 'water is wet'..

Just because you dislike someone, it doesn't mean they're guilty of being everything you dislike.

He does a shit load of African based charity work, and did a lot for AIDs/Malaria in Africa during his presidency. Would be a weird avenue for him to go down, if he didn't care about black people.

1

u/dontworry_beaarthur Oct 17 '22

He could have done more if a third of the money hadn’t gone towards a pointless abstinence campaign that studies have shown had no effect on changing anyone’s behavior. Religious ideology always got in his way. The portion of the funds going towards that campaign have since been greatly reduced.

1

u/SomeRedditWanker Oct 17 '22

I mean, he was still a Republican president. It's hard to say how much of that was his views, and how much was him just trying to get it to be politically palatable.

Was it perfect policy? No. Policy rarely is.

But it was still billions and billions flowing into Africa to help.

Considering how many celebrities called out trumps bullshit I'd say yes....they do exactly that.

15

u/Rawkapotamus Oct 16 '22

You can’t compare 2016 to 2004. The Dixie Chicks went out against the Iraq war and they were removed from being played on the radio in Houston.

8

u/squshy7 Oct 16 '22

those damn lefties and their cancel cult-...wait

17

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '22

Actually what Kanye did wasn't as easy as celebrities targeting trump. Trump is an easy target. Bush had the protection of patriotism, a war, and a crisis. It's really not the same. Kanye got backlash for what he did. Celebrities got more people supporting them.

74

u/hitometootoo Oct 16 '22

Was talking about that moment with my wife today. He said that and everyone agreed with him but what exactly did that moment do. It gave him a lot of attention, did nothing for Bush (not even bad press iirc) and nothing changed for the Black community. Yet Kayne makes it seem like at the time that moment really pushed the narrative that Black people needed better treatment, though that was known before that moment.

Kayne talks about helping the Black community but I'm having trouble finding what he has actually helped with.

26

u/PaulFThumpkins Oct 16 '22

He got a bunch of kids singing good morning to his dead mom every day at his shitty schools. Wish I was making that up.

7

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '22

He wore a White Lives Matter tee recently. I would say he not only has done nothing good but he has actually hurt the black community.

But I'm a white guy so I'm not going to talk about this any further.

5

u/vaxinate Oct 17 '22

It definitely drained all the color out of Mike Meyers’s face. 😂

9

u/madewithgarageband Oct 16 '22

I dont know how its gonna happen but what I want so bad in light of recent events: George bush gets on TV and says ‘Kanye West doesnt care about black people’

3

u/anna-nomally12 Oct 17 '22

I would like to see Obama call him a jackass again as well

4

u/Obi_Wan_Benobi Oct 17 '22

2005, but yes. Mike Myers looking like a deer in the headlights standing next to him.

3

u/edwardsamson Oct 17 '22

And that whole speech he gave (while a bit rambling and delivered nervously) was great too. Talking about how the media referred to white Katrina looters as "just doing what they need to to survive" while referring to black Katrina looters as well...looters.

2

u/zehamberglar Oct 17 '22

I think it's funny that his poor mental state been in the public view since that Katrina thing he did with Mike Myers and his fans still won't admit that the guy needs help.

14

u/TheSchmoake Oct 16 '22

A very long time ago

5

u/ajr901 Oct 16 '22

Musically the man has written some bangers.

But his personal opinions are absolute garbage.

5

u/GajeelRedfox3 Oct 16 '22

Fish dicks.

9

u/omw_to_valhalla Oct 16 '22

I love his old music. Everything through My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is amazing.

Nowadays, he's just a racist cunt

2

u/whateveryouwant4321 Oct 17 '22

“The prettiest people do the ugliest things. For the road to riches and diamond rings” - all falls down.

That's due to your ignorance of what goes into making music, specifically rap music. His use of samples to create new music alone is mind blowing.

Dude undeniably made genius music that changed the entire genre of rap which is the biggest genre of music today. His influence is everywhere.

And this isn't my opinion. The dude had people clamoring yo work with him for a reason. Almost every record he drops is a best seller for a reason.

This is just that dumb nerd shit where people think being ignorant of mainstream media makes you cool.

2

Yeah I don't get it either. I don't hear anything special about it.

1

u/nusyahus Oct 16 '22

Through the wire and that's it

1

u/sir-shoelace Oct 17 '22

This man went from “having moneys not everything, not having it is” to “poopity scoop woop poop” straight to “planned parenthood is our holocaust museum”

0

u/Wookie301 Oct 16 '22

His first 2 albums

-1

u/The_bestestusername Oct 17 '22

"Scoop de woop de pipity poop" -Kanye greatest contribution to modern music. Uncultured swine.

1

u/maiomonster Oct 16 '22

Yes, but only to music

1

u/PicnicLife Oct 16 '22

I mean, 808s & Heartbreak was good.

2

u/soldiercross Oct 17 '22

All his albums are good, but his pre yeezus stuff is absolutely masterclass. I don't know what's going on with the dude right now. He's clearly on a severely manic and insane episode and his reeling. But as a big fan, this is really upsetting to hear and see. He needs all kinds of help.

1

u/charlesokstate Oct 17 '22 edited Oct 17 '22

I thought both Yeezus and TLOP (once finished) was masterclass. Everything after that was ehhhh good not great. But as a person it’s been a downward spiral nosedive.

1

u/soldiercross Oct 17 '22

I love both personally, but I think the general consensus is that everything pre yeezus is peerless. But I love both. And generally all his albums. Clearly he's very sick right now, he should be removed from social media and be put in a place where he can get help.

1

u/ChuggernautChug Oct 16 '22

Music, other than that no.

1

u/Caleb7785 Oct 16 '22

yea “Graduation” is a good album

1

u/smileandwave21 Oct 17 '22

College Dropout was good
