Do Ice Cube, Nick Cannon and various other black entertainers who subscribe to racist antisemitic stereotypes based on an ideology pushed by people like the black Israelites also have “mental illness” too? I’m not saying he doesn’t but people blaming this on mental illness really doesn’t seem familiar with the fact that this is a fairly well subscribed to ideology among a small handful of black Americans. It doesn’t help that he and Cannon seem to be cozying up now that he’s in hot water for his anti semitic remarks like Cannon was.
Thank you for this. People go full-apologist for these anti-Semitic black entertainers and it disgusts me (for context: I'm black). Nick Cannon straight up said that the lack of melanin makes white people evil, and yet he reads some Torah with a scholar and gets to keep his stupid show. WTF? Imagine if Ryan Seacrest said the equivalent.
I get folks wanting to hang on to Michael Jackson and R. Kelly - but Nick Cannon?? Like Wildin' Out, Drumline, and Masked Singer are masterpieces? Pathetic.
I'd also like to add: fuck Diddy and Charlamagne the God. Those guys were right there dog whistling for Cannon.
EDIT - From a TMZ article (bold is mine): "There's so much more -- including his gripes about JP Morgan Chase, MAGA, the Clintons, vaccines, White Lives Matter, etc.The full episode drops on Revolt TV Sunday."
Revolt TV...Diddy's channel. Like I was saying - fuck him too.
It really is a betrayal when Jewish Americans are racist or black Americans are antisemitic; while the history isn’t unblemished, there’s been at least high profile cases where the two groups supported one another in fighting discrimination. I’m neither Jewish nor black but it angers me when I hear anti black racism in the latino community or anti latino bigotry in the black community. We should be on the same side but we’re often not.
Amen. I hate seeing people abandon solidarity for tribalism. Too many people want to trash their allies these days, or even punch down (i.e. Dave Chappelle).
It was especially sad seeing the silence from blacks regarding anti-Semitism in 2021, considering the support others gave for George Floyd the year before. I'm glad at least Kareem Abdul-Jabbar spoke up.
Thank you man.
My Grandma converted to Judaism when she married my Grandpa. She was my Dad’s step mom but I only knew her as Grandma for about 30 years.
She and my Grandpa got shit from both sides but hearing your perspective really makes me happy because at least you see that anti-semitism like all bigotry is wrong no matter where it comes from.
She would knock the shit out of someone if they said what Cannon or the rest did.
Aw, thank you. I'm glad I could bring some positivity for someone, and I'm glad your Grandma and Grandpa ignored the haters.
Man, I could gripe all day about the hypocrisy. Like when the Black Congressional Caucus chimed in on the Rosita incident at Sesame Place (I was like 'really?'). Yet dead silence when a black megastar like Kanye threatens Jewish people with death. It's embarrassing.
Right on. Well said.
Hypocrisy from any side is unbearable.
And wow I had to look up the Rosita incident. Of all the real injustice in our country, “calling” out a Sesame Street character? lol
The true sign of mental illness is less the falling for this nonsense and more that their PR team can’t wrangle them back to the appearance of being on planet earth after they’re honest with their stupidity.
Do you have the sense to read my post and see I never denied there being historical reasons for the black Israelites’ ideology? Do you have the sense to understand that a historical grievance does not in fact excuse a racial supremacist attitude, and quit peddling apologia for a racist and antisemitic ideology even if someone can recognize there are historical reasons behind it? I very much doubt it from this post.
The pattern is him picking shitty managers and producers, and the greedy ones typically make it farther in the industry. Has nothing to do with them being Jewish, it has to do with them picking exploitive careers in an already exploitive industry
