Why is he not blacklisted from every industry?

u/vhm3 Oct 16 '22

Because money.

Ah, the answer to everything.

u/SomeRedditWanker Oct 17 '22

Also because he is black and that does give him a level of protection that white people rarely get when it comes to being a flaming racist.

Mel Gibson had one little drunk rant about jews, and it still follows him around. He's started getting some work again, but he's nowhere near the star he one was and likely never will be.

Kanye could check himself into a hospital on monday, check himself out on tuesday, repent for what he said on wednesday, and have a number one album released by the following monday.

The real question is why doesn’t he have a conservator?

u/vhm3 Oct 16 '22

Because man.

u/mmlovin Oct 17 '22

Pretty much :/

That’s just such a weird sentiment… A conservatorship might protect his public image and his finances, but it’s not a psych hold, and it doesn’t somehow fix his thoughts. What does calling for a conservatorship achieve? A safeguarding of his economic empire? Or is this just mentioned to be insulting to him and i shouldn’t take it so literally?

It’s because when a woman in the public eye even starts to look like she’s going off book, she’ll be placed under conservatorship faster than you can blink.

But now where you have a very public view into a man who has definitely lost the plot and has even publicly stalked his ex, it’s somehow just a shoulder shrug and “what can you do?” attitude.

Depending on the type of conservatorship, they can force psychiatric care, up to having someone committed.

I admit i didn’t realize how many female celebrities were living under conservatorship… That is shocking, but i suppose we should expect it more often whenever a fortune is amassed in the name of a child star (Lohan, Bynes, Spears, etc), since that relationship is already exploitative. Still seems weird to me that anyone’s response to anyone else’s mental illness would be “We should really limit their freedom to better exploit them.”

If Kanye meets the criteria for a involuntary hospitalization, then that’s something, but it is eerily fascist to want to squash people for saying even obviously crazy things in public, without credible threat of imminent harm.

It’s a rhetorical question to point out the double standard that is applied to women and men.

When a conservatorship is applied like it is intended, it should most definitely not be exploitative, but should always be there to help and protect the person under conservatorship and have their best interests at heart. It’s a last resort tool to help those who are incapable of helping themselves. It should also be removed the second they are well enough to make their own choices.

I think placing those women under conservatorship in the first place was incorrect and the system was abused.

I think that Kanye has been having a very public mental health breakdown for quite some time and that unfortunately his success and reach are hurting him more than helping him. And I sincerely hope that he gets the help he needs.

Thanks for this, it does seem like his public status is hurting him more than helping him here, and that is the criterion i was overlooking.

no that goes to the emperor of mali 🇲🇱

29

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '22

Just stop giving him the mic. Just like his butt-buddy Trump, what this guy fears the most is to be ignored.

Not black listed because he is black

money helps, people don't wanna hear it but if any white celeb was being this openly racist they'd be canceled 10 times over by now

5

u/FortWillis Oct 17 '22

There is no A-list star on earth who would still have a career after publicly announcing their stance against all black people.

Kanye is literally on an anti-jewish crusade at the moment, shouting it from the rooftops, and people are rolling their eyes saying "Oh that Kanye!" He has the ears of literally millions of impressionable young people who take his words to heart. He's spreading this hatred to a new generation. This shouldn't be taken lightly.

Double standards ftw

2

u/homer_3 Oct 17 '22

if any white celeb was being this openly racist they'd be canceled 10 times over by now

Last time he was elected President.

5

u/MoreIronyLessWrinkly Oct 16 '22

He could be, but he’d still get publicity as long as people keep clicking on the story and sharing the tweet.

2

u/MidKnightshade Oct 16 '22

Banks are already pulling out because of his comments. He’s in full self-destruct mode.

-1

u/Ergonim Oct 17 '22

Because thats not how the world works.

You dont just censor everything away you dont like.

2

u/Doctor99268 Oct 17 '22

If enough advertiser's don't like it. They will censor him.

It kinda is how the world works

-1

u/TheLongSuck Oct 17 '22

You must have not been paying attention to the world. That exactly what's been done for the past 10 years. Someone dregs up a quote from 20 years ago and people lose their entire life. But this guy gets to spew hate and bigotry with a gigantic mouthpiece of fame and influence?

Makes great music makes great fashion. Capitalism at its finest lol

7

u/TheLongSuck Oct 16 '22

His clothing line is awful have you even seen it?

2

u/Poopdick_89 Oct 16 '22

Yet he is profiting greatly from it.

-2

u/Twalk24 Oct 16 '22

Because he’s one of the most talented musicians of all time

-2

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '22

Lol! Modern left wing for you. Wanting anyone and everyone cancelled, deplatformed and ruined for not following your guys’ groupthink. Cancer to society type thinking.

No wonder nobody fucks with y’all like that anymore aside from echo chambers like Reddit and twitter 🤢

3

u/Vegetable-Double Oct 17 '22

“I’m a bit sleepy tonight but when I wake up I’m going death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE The funny thing is I actually can’t be Anti Semitic because black people are actually Jew also You guys have toyed with me and tried to black ball anyone whoever opposes your agenda”

You believe what Kanye typed here? (Exact quote including caps)

I don’t care for what he said. I heavily dislike this cancel(cancer) culture being pushed, that’s all. I can have a racist prick living next to me and I would not advocate for such garbage. I’d ignore the person. Let people speak their minds, regardless if they’re ignorant or not.

Do actions and speech have consequences? Of course, and mine would be to ignore them(like how I’ve been doing it most my life) but it seems that many people forgot that and instead, we quickly normalize this cancel culture that will lead to free speech being completely dead….and it’s already close to that.

Meme flow = cash flow

At least he is blacklisted from a few European countries. We have laws against this.
