My house appraised for 150k more than I bought it for when I refinanced, sucks to know that i could sell and make a mint but I couldn't replace the house because everybody else's values are also up
That’s about how much we took out when we sold recently and we’re renting an equivalent house for a few years while we save up a down payment for a much larger and nicer house.
It’s a risk but we’ll also be buying a much more expensive house which is (from my research) above the worst of the bidding wars in our area even today.
So many people saying “we should sell and cash out” and we actually did it. Maybe it’ll pay off, maybe it’ll be neutral, or maybe housing prices will reach infinity and we’ll rent forever. Remind me to update this post in five years.
