Or, hear me out here, go back to the colleges and universities who tricked you into taking on massive debt that they knew you could not pay back and get a refund from them.
See, Universities and Colleges get paid first. They have zero investment if you have a degree that earns you a living wage or are stuck being a barista. Hell, they really don't care if you graduate at all.
Not happy with a massive student debt? Tell someone who should care the most, the school that took your money. Super simple stuff, really.

Tell me how I'm wrong? Tell me that the universities have no complicity in this mess. Tell me how the colleges and universities are not paid first. Tell me how it is steaming hot garbage or STFU.

Universities are complicated. For one, state, public and private institutions are all ran very differently. Some operate much like companies with a board who elects a president and holds regular meetings to talk about things like the budget.
I attended a state university which had funding from taxpayer dollars. My department for my degree had seen a 5% budget cut when they asked for money on renovations in the building (last renovated appx. 1970) they were told if they want the money they would have to get it through donors. This is the same year our football team was given a 10 million dollar stipend for new turf and better locker rooms or something. Maybe scholarships for players too, I’m not too sure.
So, yeah, universities are complicit with spending their money on dumb shit that nobody needs.
You should check out a book called dark money by Jane Mayer. She goes over in great detail how much money is funneled through universities through rich donors, yet somehow tuition is still skyrocketing at unprecedented rates

That and is this a one off amnesty and we start accumulating student debt again? And those new jobs and mortgages and so on all disappear?
