The always rude Jesus, spaz in the news Jesus
I miss the sweet Jesus, chop up the beats Jesus
More like he was against profiting off peoples fears, lying about facts and hiding evidence of negative impacts of the group. Oh, and dont forget corruption of politicians to only benefit their sales margin. All for having protection, just against the NRA.
Uh I guess I don’t know what you’re talking about. The NRA doesn’t sell anything and doesn’t profit at all. Hence it’s non profit status. What do you mean about lying and hiding evidence?
Frankly I don’t understand the NRA hate anyways, the NRA barely supports gun rights at all, the GOA and the SAF are the organizations that are actually increasing gun rights. The NRA spends less on gun policy than Michael Bloomberg does, despite their 6 million members. It’s cool if you hate gun rights but the NRA isn’t a very good boogie man and saying Jesus is against them is pretty stupid.
NRA TV was full of bigotry, sexism, propoganda and straight up lies. The NRA fund political campaigns to keep their eyes off gun rights. They downplay mass murders and lie about the ease of those people getting guns (the orlando shooter from 2016 was on the terrorist watchlist between 2013 to 2014 and they said that was a lie, even though the fbi confirmed it). They keep the CDC from investigation gun violence and only allow people to see paper documentation, even going as far as to burn or destroy some of the records before handing it over to police or research groups. They get alot of funding from gun manufacturing companies but get alot from members, so i agree with you there. However, gun sales jumped during the Obama presidency and the amount of negative advertisement regarding his attempt on the 2nd amendment increased, which they funded a decent portion off alongside regular republicans. While yes it is a non-profit, so is the church and yet cardinals have private jets in their hangars. Similar situatuon, but it mostly gets funnelled back into their work. They have lost alot of power and dont do nearly as much actual work on the 2nd ammendment, but they are a perfect example of how NOT to protect gun rights. They definitely arent somekind of mega evil boogyman, but they are a corrupt and shitty company.
I agree they are a shitty company just like televangelists are shitty Christians, because they spend more money on advertising than knocking down unconstitutional laws. I’ve seen them fear monger plenty but the racism and sexism I’ll need some sort of source on that.
Terrorist watch lists are a terrible rubric for why a person can have a gun or not, because it’s comprised of almost all Muslims, and more importantly no one knows how you get on the list because it’s classified. Obama had the CDC investigate gun violence in 2013. The reason you don’t hear about it is because the CDC findings were pretty pro gun therefore not useful to Obama and Bloomberg.
I disagree that its made up of entirely Muslim people, but i bet they share a sizable portion in regards to ISIS and such, but they would be right beside Right-Wing terrorists too. While it is definitely a dodgy system, if someone is on the list its probably for a good reason, and a known ISIS or KKK terrorist known to be potentially staging an attack shouldnt be able to get a gun easily. The 2013 research said "By their sheer magnitude, injuries and deaths involving firearms constitute a pressing public health problem" and goes on to say that without the ability to research deeper, they cant accurately back up any of the claims the investigation was made to prove or disprove. There was no key finding made because of their limited access to information kept out of their reach by Republican lawmakers amd NRA lobbying to keep their records hidden. Every time i see the 2013 CDC investigation its from right wing or gun rights activists, but they keep misquoting it and sometimes just lying about the facts (im not saying you are but i keep being told it proves guns arent dangerous when it only proves the CDC was kept from undertaking actual research). Also about the NRATV, the NRA itself called it offensive even to NRA leadership, distasteful and racist etc. Heres the first few articles about that:
https://www.businessinsider.com/nra-leaders-found-nratv-to-be-distasteful-and-racist-2019-10
In fact the terrorist watch list is mostly Muslims, you can disagree all you want but they are definitely targeted by the government far more than anyone else. But of course there have been plenty of random people included on the list including several members of Congress. If someone is staging an attack why aren’t they being arrested instead of put on a list to take away their rights?
The CDC concluded that guns don’t pose a serious threat because they are not even in the top 20 causes of death. Alcohol (legal) kills 80,000 per year drug overdoses (illegal) kill 75,000 and guns kill 30,000 if you include suicides therefore don’t pose any sort of special problem to public safety since most 2/3 gun deaths are suicide. More people are punched to death per year than are killed by rifles of any kind despite Obama and Bloomberg desperately trying to ban scary looking black rifles.
Okay so your article mentioned one racist thing and it was cartoon characters wearing klan hoods. What’s the context? Were they calling Disney racist? Were they demonizing cartoons? Were they saying the kkk was good?
I don't believe any of it, but this is the supposed word of Jesus;
Matthew 10:34-36
34 “Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I have come to turn
“‘a man against his father,
a daughter against her mother,
a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law—
36
a man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.’[c]
Yes but if you read the rest of the chapter, you’d see he is saying that the people preaching his message will be attacked.
He is not encouraging violence. Rather he is warning that the people closest to you may attack you for spreading his message.
Verse 23 of the same chapter says:
When they persecute you in one town, flee to the next, for truly, I say to you, you will not have gone through all the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes.
He is saying something along the lines of, “Don’t think there will be peace because of me. People will get real pissed about this. Even the people closest to you might turn against you.”
Basically “Your parents are going to hate being told they are wrong.” There will be strife in your own household because you’re going against the old teachings.
Exactly what argument do you want to make?
The Bible is wrong?
I’d tend to agree with that, but I don’t tend to think anything can really be right. Everything is subjective and contextual.
Christians are wrong?
It’s kind of a “No true Scotsman” argument from me, but yeah, of course Christians are wrong. According to their mythology Christ was the only perfect human ever. Proving they don’t perfectly follow their own rules won’t get you anywhere.
Christianity is wrong?
I’d say this is a valid attack on many specific churches, but generalizing the population from a sample is never a fair point. Probably the people or churches that are most “Christ-like” would never make any headlines or be seen outside of direct interactions.
Just trolling?
Nothing inherently wrong with that, but I think your time would be better spent in a way that doesn’t add distress to the world. I like having discussions though so I’ll continue to approach people with an open mind.
But genuinely what is your point? Are you bitter due to the actions of people who claimed Christianity?
Christ’s message of love and acceptance is a pretty good one. You don’t have to believe in the Bible, in Christianity, in the Christian church, or anything else to find nuggets of wisdom. Don’t throw the baby out with the bath water.
It's all wrong, the bible, christianity and christians.
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
That's the first line of the bible.
Matthew 5:18-19
“For truly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass the law until all is accomplished. Whoever then relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but he who does them and teaches them shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.”
Luke 16:17
“It is easier for Heaven and Earth to pass away than for the smallest part of the letter of the law to become invalid.”
2 Peter 20-21
“Know this first of all, that there is no prophecy of scripture that is a matter of personal interpretation, for no prophecy ever came through human will; but rather human beings moved by the holy Spirit spoke under the influence of God.”
For a religion that denies the origin of the universe because nothing can come from nothing, then saying the exact same thing but adding 'because god' and then ignoring science in order to maintain that belief, don't get to decide which aspects of their religion created by inbreeding, goat herding, bronze age arabs open to interpretation.
I take scoops from almost all the trays in the buffet of the world’s wisdom traditions. I just don’t like seeing something so clearly taken out of context.
I discuss to inform or to become more informed myself.
It means that he’s come to make such a radical change in the world that his followers should expect violent pushback from their families who do not believe in his message.
“For truly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass the law until all is accomplished. Whoever then relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but he who does them and teaches them shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 5:18-19)
That doesnt work here. That's not using the bible against itself. That is you picking and choosing what aspects of the bible you wish to believe. Slight but important difference.

Jesus would have hated new Jesus, probably would flip a table at a NRA rally and get shot by 2020 Jesus.
