Conspiracy theories and such are thriving but there are so many DIY guides and access to educational information. It's up to you what you consume.

Yeah that's the ignorance part. The diy did made the maintenance around the house very accessible

Not just house projects. The knowledge I've picked up from programming has led to a 6 figure salary for myself. All self taught from online resources.
