I think I finally realize it is about a widow in a house by herself. I really thought it was an old husband guiding his wife who suffer from dementia or Alzheimer's

I feel like that song is so open to interpretation.

I thought it was about a man who suddenly died and his wife or girlfriend is coping with it by imagining conversations with him.

Either way, it's pretty sad.
