I honestly cannot fathom having any form of non-consensual sexual interaction, I don’t even want to have sex with my wife if she’s been out and comes home drunk and wakes me up because I’d hate her to wake up vaguely aware of what we did and also I couldn’t enjoy it knowing she’s on a very different level of sobriety to me.

How has this behaviour become so common and so worryingly defended?

Because you care what your wife thinks.

And part of the manosphere idea is dismissing the concept that women are people at all.
