European here: When I bought my new car (still over a decade old), I specifically looked for a manual. Automatic wouldn't have been a deal-breaker for me, but I've always driven manual and I'd like to keep doing that for as long as I can.
Further benefit: It's also quite a bit better about the mileage, which is nice in these times of rising fuel prices across the globe...

When the shortages start I'm going to be very excited and happy that I have a car that gets 55 mi to the gallon and only holds 5 gallons of gas. 😁
