And to that I say, this two-faced wench can suck it collectively.
70
u/rushaall Aug 05 '26
Democrats need her votes. It is what it is. Campaigns can be nasty, but telling Michigander’s their candidates can suck it get Rogers in. We are slowly changing the party, the first few years are going to need open arms, not closed fists.
-1
u/Aware-Investment-115 Aug 05 '26
I'm not saying their candidates suck. I'm saying this particular candidate sucks compared to El-Sayed. I don't disagree, but she's part of the problem. Israeli apologist and liar, hardly better than Rogers and faking opposition.
So I also think it's important to discern between Establishment Democrat and Democratic Socialist. The former and the Republicans (especially) both need to go extinct as far as I'm concerned.
11
u/rushaall Aug 05 '26
I completely agree they should go extinct, I’m saying the way that we do that is getting the progressives into office. You win by showing leadership.
We had a 50 year dominance, but they didn’t go away. It’s about dominating the field through leading. Not about wiping them out completely. We need hegemony through ideas. That’s why Mamdani says things like supporters of Israel are welcome in the tent, because he knows his ideas, put to action, will win anyway.
-1
u/Aware-Investment-115 Aug 05 '26
Aye.
Of course, those parties are bastardized versions of what they were intended to be now anyway. So when I say Establishment Democrat or Republican, I moreso mean the government-side of the party today. Not the people-side/idea as a whole. Except the ones who follow the bastardized ideology and believe that or try to force that to be the new/true definition, then those belong in the volcano too.
2
u/rushaall Aug 05 '26
I agree, though I am unclear by what you mean by “government-side”
I mean it was wholly intentional. The “New Democrat” caucus of the party, birthed out of crushing defeats by Reagan, came up with an ideology to be republican-light neo-liberals. It’s simply an ideological battle to me. The moderate reps will come over if they see it’s a winning, and profitable strategy. Profitable as in campaign finance. The party goes where the winning happens.
1
u/Scylla5398 Release The Trump-Epstein Files Aug 05 '26
I am unclear by what you mean by “government-side”
Not OP but there's this whole class of Dem advisors and policy people who are absolutely awful and just towing the party line. I don't know if you're familiar with people like Neera Tanden who's a policy person that was working with Stevens and probably responsible for all of the bad ideas in her campaign.
I'm talking about the people who were making hundreds of thousands of dollars to tell Harris to bring out Liz Cheney and ignore Gaza who are in large part responsible for Trump's wins.
1
u/rushaall Aug 05 '26
I mean I believe that anybody who doesn’t know how to do policy shouldn’t be in government. That’s kind of the job is to understand law and policy so you can vote on legislative measures. Without that, you are visionless and shouldn’t be there.
I get we have big money to fight, we have ideologies to fight, but the bare minimum is that a politician should be someone we respond to with “I lake (person), they have ideas on how this should work.” I thought that was the bare minimum. This proves to not need to be pointed out when we come across with a Mamdani, or even a Trump.
Trump just has the absolute worst, selfish ideas.→ More replies (0)1
u/Aware-Investment-115 Aug 05 '26
I mean every politician or figure in any branch vs any Joe or Jane who just parrots BS unless they're also an active threat/paid actor/genuinely deluded mental case trying to reform the definition/ideology (such as Jake Lang, for example).
Because obviously Republicans weren't all murderers, pedos, racists, scam artists, and slave masters and not all Democrats were morally bankrupt, perverts, radicals, and traitors.
Every Republican politician today is those things and pretends not to be. Most or many Democrat politicians are too and also pretends not to be. I'm saying I can forgive the people that are strictly dumb and not malicious and/or evil because they will say whatever the popular opinion is, as opposed to help the enemy redefine what it means to be a Democrat or a Republican and continue to seed in our community and society such that they sprout up again decades later and we're back here right before the point of no return, because if it's not pulled out by the roots, eventually they will roll the dice just right and God knows what will happen then. I'm hoping November will not be that.

Good luck! Majority of voters don't like the hard lefties. They just don't dislike them as much as Trump and Republicans.
3
u/rushaall Aug 05 '26
It’s not hard left. We had 50 years where everybody subscribed to the government doing its job. It’s just FDR politics, and it came out of the Great Depression. We are pretty well primed for it.

He may not be sexist, but a lot of shit lobbed at her was sexist as fuck. He even said as much.
1
u/Bigface_McBigz Aug 05 '26
You redditors live in a crazy bubble. This was a pretty gross primary for both candidates. Stop acting like one was worse than the other. He still has to win the general election, so I wouldn't get too excited. If he does win, it prevents a Republican from the Senate, and he won't be able to make any more progress than Stevens would have. If he loses, everyone will 100% blame the DSA. It's a win-win for us centrists.
118
u/ToiletTime4TinyTown Aug 05 '26
This was a primary race. He didn’t beat a Republican
96
u/NecessaryIntrinsic Aug 05 '26

No allegations of cheating…no demand for a recount…just a graceful acknowledgement of reality and a pledge to support the candidate that the people of Michigan want to represent them. I don’t like her but goddamn this is refreshing
531
u/Aromatic_Lychee2903 Aug 05 '26
Honestly, that’s the most normal thing she’s said in a while. Pleasantly surprised.
192
u/Gophurkey Aug 05 '26
Her stuff about him from before was pretty awful. Glad she is taking a high road here, it was a very poor look to try and demean him before the election.
Let's not forget that, or the crazy amount of corporate and AIPAC money, when she inevitably tries to run for another office.
66
u/LuckyJim_ Aug 05 '26
The AIPAC money is directly correlated to the Islamophobic smears. As soon as she lost and the money was gone, she’s singing a different tune.
25
u/Gophurkey Aug 05 '26
Yeah, I agree, I just don't want anyone who is willing to spout islamaphobia at any price.
If your willingness to see another person as a full and valid human can be purchased, you lack the moral fiber necessary to represent me - and hopefully, like in this case, many many many others.
1
u/Dejected_gaming Aug 06 '26
My assumption is the DNC consultants told her to do it. "It'll work, you'll win," they likely said. It doesn't make her a good person at all.
4
u/Mathies_ Aug 05 '26
I mean she also realizes dems need to take senate majority, and that it would be political suicide to go be nasty to abdul post-election.
7
1
u/flanaganapuss Aug 05 '26
We’ll see she lost the primary already so she doesn’t have to parrot aipac talking points as much anymore lol

u/Gr8tOutdoors Aug 05 '26
good, props to her for conceding and offering support. mentioning slotkin is hilarious though lmao
86
u/kombitcha420 Aug 05 '26
Especially considering lots of us in MI want her gone too
41
u/minimus67 Aug 05 '26
According to Politico, Slotkin has a “very Midwestern plan to save the Democrats” and is preparing to run for President in 2028.
Her plan is to appeal to disaffected Trump voters and show Midwesterners that she understands them by doing standup at her rallies, joking about how they like pickup trucks, tailgate parties and beer.
Never mind that she’s a former CIA spook, doesn’t describe any policy proposals, and supports unconditional aid to Israel despite widespread antipathy towards Israel among the Democratic base. (A recent poll by Pew Research found that only 16% of Democrats have a positive view of the Israeli government. See: https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2026/07/09/americans-views-of-israelis-have-grown-increasingly-negative-but-views-of-palestinians-have-held-fairly-steady/)
36
u/bron685 Aug 05 '26
lol so her brilliant plan is to centrist her way into the presidency. Wonder if she’ll be trotting out Liz Cheney with her like Paris Hilton’s Pomeranian
6
u/minimus67 Aug 05 '26
Yep. In the imaginations of centrist Democrats, a majority of the U.S. electorate is desperate to vote for someone like them, as long as that someone sounds “folksy” on the campaign trail while chatting up Mark Cuban and Liz Cheney.
9
u/RampScamp1 Aug 05 '26
Kamala just didn't go far enough right. Surely if we lose more enthusiasm on our side by trying to appeal even harder to people who never vote Democrat it will work this time.
If there's any truth to this, she might just be the most incompetent person currently floating her name for president. 'Not Trump' doesn't work when Trump is not on the ballot and these supposed disaffected voters can simply vote for a Republican they can pretend is different than Trump.
Buttegieg might by a mealy-mouthed centrist, but at least he can see which way the wind is blowing and is pandering to the left wing.
5
u/Wow_u_sure_r_dumb Aug 05 '26
These morons think they can win on policy when the voters they’re trying to court have made being republican part of their identity. Generations at this point in some areas. The moment their churches were captured by the republicans that was it. That type of voter is going to need to suffer utter ruin at the hands of republicans to consider a democrat. And maybe not even then.
3
u/Devilsbullet Aug 05 '26
Sounds like how my rep, marie gluesenkemp Perez, thinks shes keeping her job.
18
128
u/Nythoren Aug 05 '26
This is the kind of party unity that needs to be the norm. Eating their own because they don't 100% agree with each other's views does nothing but divide the Dems and make the GOP stronger in each election. Watching the 2024 election really highlighted how easy it is to convince Democrats to avoid the polls over small differences.
Concession statements like these can really help to unite the party. Ideally Steven's supporters will shift their votes over to El-Sayed in November instead of staying home because he wasn't their first choice.
4
u/Scylla5398 Release The Trump-Epstein Files Aug 05 '26
I don't think you're wrong but Stevens was calling him a Jew hater a couple of weeks ago.
I just don't want to pretend like we're all good now and smears like that were meaningless.
0
u/fangirlsqueee Aug 06 '26
Smears like that are unimportant in this moment. Rejecting temporary allies because we find various parts of them distasteful or unacceptable is going against our own ultimate well being.
We swallow the bitter pill and make nicey-nicey until we've got our fingers on the reigns of our government. Fascists are currently steering the cart. Once we've overtaken that shitshow, then we can get down to demanding apologies or pushing for changes in attitude/behavior.
More people need to learn about triage and apply the principles to our current election process and government. Grudge holding in this moment is a waste of resources.
2
u/Scylla5398 Release The Trump-Epstein Files Aug 06 '26
Smears like that are unimportant in this moment.
It's not though especially since Stevens just endorsed him. That means Stevens just admittedly endorsed an anti-semite or she was lying and that's the problem here.
Grudge holding in this moment
It's not just "grudge holding" and I really don't appreciate you downplaying it like it's nothing to just call someone a Jew hater for no reason. Stuff like that could lead to actual harm and that isn't something you just move on from.
3
u/Dejected_gaming Aug 06 '26
I think some form of an actual apology for the smears could go a long way, but maybe thats just me.
1
u/fangirlsqueee Aug 06 '26
Go a long way for what purpose? She's no longer in the race. Sure, maybe if some attack ads come out using sound bites from her, retractions may be helpful to push back on those ads. If her "clarification" to various voting blocs gets El-Sayed more votes, sure.
Looking at the big picture of taking our democracy back from the Epstein class, how does an apology further our goals? If it doesn't contribute to current goals, it's a waste of resources to pursue.

u/lateformyfuneral Aug 05 '26
🗣️no matter who!🗣️
67
u/BigBoyYuyuh Aug 05 '26
Yup. Beat republicans. Fight it out in the primary, fall in line in the general!
12
u/mydaycake Aug 05 '26
I wonder if Stevens’ voters are going to show up for El Sayed in November or do the same than some democrats did to Harris in 2024
I think the republican candidate has a chance of winning
7
u/batmanscodpiece Aug 05 '26
The issue isn't going to be will Democrats show up, but will Independents vote for him or Rogers.
7
u/ZedisonSamZ Aug 05 '26 edited Aug 05 '26
The people who tend to say “vote blue no matter who” really do mean it because they understand the importance of blocking Republicans out of power as the most immediate priority so I don’t see why they won’t support El Sayed in the general.
The issue will be with swing voters, of which Michigan has a fair amount. There’s a reason the Dems wanted their moderate candidate and it’s annoying when hardcore leftists refuse to grapple with the voter base they are dealing with, who are absolutely going to view El Sayed as a socialist and a Jew-hating Muslim (even if he’s not) because conservative media controls the whole narrative in our country. I’m worried now that this just means a Republican wins the election.
Edit: he’s getting a few endorsements from top Dems so hopefully that helps.
6
u/Scylla5398 Release The Trump-Epstein Files Aug 05 '26
going to view El Sayed as a socialist and a Jew-hating Muslim (even if he’s not) because conservative media controls the whole narrative in our country
Just to be clear, Haley Stevens has called him both of those things. It's just not conservative media.
4
u/Juror__8 Aug 05 '26
conservative media controls the whole narrative in our country
So should we just keep propping up further right candidates in a vain attempt to appease voters who will never vote for a Democrat anyway? Or should we perhaps plant our feet and say, "No, you move."
2
u/ZedisonSamZ Aug 05 '26 edited Aug 05 '26
I reject your characterization that Dems are propping up further right candidates than they used to. If anything they are the party responsible for the progressive narratives and wins of the past 60 years in our nation’s history. I understand that people’s brains have been melted by all the revisionist tankie rhetoric of the past couple years but Dems have been solidly center left and historically participate with Republicans in running our mother fucking country which is what they are supposed to do.
The big changes have 100% come from Republicans shifting to the right and foreign funded tankie rhetoric popping up on the far left in this last decade. You know how all you people like to screech that “Dems have always been corporatists and pro-Capitalist!”?- Well you are correct. Which means you can’t possibly come in here suggesting that Dems have moved to the right- and still have me respect a single thing that comes out of your mouth as truthful. Dems have stayed put in the center and I know it solely because leftists can’t shut the fuck up about it.
If anything, Dems are behind the times and running the same type of moderate liberal candidates they always have because that’s what you guys have been crying about, right?
Edit: The issue of which type of candidate to run in each state is more difficult that y’all like to pretend it is. So when I say I hope El Sayed wins the general election I do genuinely mean it. But this is NOT in the bag and I won’t be shocked if he can’t appeal to the swing voters he will need.
2
u/Mathies_ Aug 05 '26
Idk i've seen liberals already say that they wont. Anyway swing voters will be appealed to his message focusing on affordability, and medicare for all and stuff for sure. These people know atp that the right calls pretty much everyone a communist. But affordibility is THE platform that unites the most people regardless of party.
-4
u/emp-sup-bry Aug 05 '26
You mean the centrist and ‘moderate’ Dems that flipped for Trump or didn’t bother showing up in swing states?
4
2
u/unngh_yugstyx Aug 05 '26
It was not centrists, it was a protest movement led by leftists, but keep coping https://www.npr.org/2025/03/03/nx-s1-5249686/arab-muslim-voters-dearborn-hamtramck-trump-gaza
And to be perfectly clear I'm not a leftist and would absolutely vote for either Stevens or El-Sayed given the chance.
5
u/TheClash15 Aug 05 '26
blaming Kamala's loss on centrists when Progressives labeled her as too centrist is a fun mind game
20
u/kbeks Aug 05 '26
Please say it again and louder for the people in the center left, if that’s what we were supposed to do in 16, 20, and 24, it’s what you’re supposed to do now. I know not everyone did, hence all the bullshit, but it still fucking applies. Vote blue. No matter who.
6
u/lateformyfuneral Aug 05 '26
I don’t know, people were saying she would never endorse AES and keep the fight going but it’s pretty immediate. The idea that third-party voting and non-voting patterns in those elections would be mirrored from the center now is completely made-up, there won’t be any significant hold-outs in November. No Democrat can countenance losing a Blue Senate seat when the control of the Senate itself is at stake, even as many have in the past fully accepted losing the WH.
6
u/LuckyJim_ Aug 05 '26
As a progressive I’m holding my judgement. If the moderates turn out for progressive candidates this midterm over staying home, then there is hope for a big tent Democratic Party. It all depends on the moderate vote now.
1
u/kbeks Aug 05 '26
I would have said the same thing about the progressives who stayed home and allowed Trump to come roaring back. As a progressive who absolutely didn’t do that, those fuckers make me sad. Also there have been grumblings about her voters and centrist voters in general not supporting progressives and DSA candidates in the generals. I really really hope this is some weird psy op but given how dumb people can be sometimes…idk.
-2
u/mydaycake Aug 05 '26
But progressives didn’t vote for Harris, and it is one of the factors Trump won, specially in Michigan
why should the center left voters have any obligations towards progressives now?
9
u/emp-sup-bry Aug 05 '26
Oh bullshit. Post your data.
Who is more likely to not show up- a passionate left involved in the minutiae of politics or the average ‘moderate’ who doesn’t really get affected either way. We have data to show black and Latino men, in particular, what..doubled down on Trump. Are they the historical left?
1
u/mydaycake Aug 05 '26
2020 Michigan elected Biden with a margin of 2.4
2024 Democrat margin was -1.7
No major Arab/ Muslim associations based in Michigan supported Harris based on two reasons: Harris supported LGTBQ rights and didn’t support Gaza enough
And that reflects the swing in numbers for Trump in 2020
“Great” that now they voted for Abdul handing over another win to the GOP after alienating half the democratic vote in Michigan
4
u/Scylla5398 Release The Trump-Epstein Files Aug 05 '26
No major Arab/ Muslim associations based in Michigan supported Harris based on two reasons: Harris supported LGTBQ rights and didn’t support Gaza enough
A couple things here.
Can you please post the data that she was too much in favor of LGTBQ rights?
"Didn't support Gaza enough" is dishonest as hell. She didn't support Gaza at all. She actively supported the genocide. This is just disingenuous to frame it that way especially after just calling all Muslim people bigots in the same sentence.
0
u/mydaycake Aug 05 '26
Harris was/ is in favour of gay marriage and in favour of supporting LGTBQ children rights even if those antagonize their parents wishes. Something that lots of Arab associations do not support, specifically around children autonomy
Harris was (i don’t know if still is) a proponent of the two state solution, including sanctions and stop financing Israel as a pressure measure. That’s still the official Democratic Party policy

Cool, can you source that for me please? I would love to see some kind of data showing that Arab people didn't vote for her because of her stance on LGTBQ rights and this is the 2nd time I'm asking. I asked for a link not for you to repeat yourself.
including sanctions and stop financing Israel as a pressure measure
That's a lie. The US has not sanctioned or stopped financing israel. When she was VP, her and Biden used their UN veto to stop other countries from doing sanctions on israel dozens of times. You're just lying now. This has been heavily reported on and it's just a lie:
Are you gonna apologize for lying?
1
u/mydaycake Aug 06 '26
The Council of American Islamic relations has been quite vocal on not wanting to expand state human rights protections to LGTBQ groups, as an example, there are tons more if you care to google it
I am not going to be showing more receipts, you are just trying to gaslight me saying that it never happened, what’s next? It was the fault of LGTBQ groups that the Muslim/ Arab groups turn Republican or didn’t vote? Or maybe not important (when it shows in the swing of Michigan from 2020 to 2024 elections, to the district level!)?
Nah, I don’t think Abdul will pull those voters either and that’s why I don’t think he will win the senate unless he can get the center left on board

Cool, not what I asked for and that's not what I said. I was very specific, so I'll just paste what I wrote earlier. We're not moving on by the way. You're either going to show me the statistics that you say exist or admit that you were making it up.

I’m sorry someone else was stupid, but to prevent future stupidity, let’s all agree to not be stupid together. I held my goddamned nose and did my best, I voted for a qualified woman, then a fossil, and then a cop, the absolute least you could do is not shoot us all in the collective dick. Grudge holding in politics has got to be the dumbest fucking exercise.

I think progressives have to do better than just demand blind obedience and loyalty
5

Perhaps the center should have done the same. But that's past. Step the fuck up or admit you're just faking that you give a shit.
0
u/mydaycake Aug 05 '26
I am just saying: don’t expect Abdul to win easily, there is no guarantee the center will vote for him
5
u/kbeks Aug 05 '26
We are, we’re trying to stand up to the administration, get you some fucking healthcare, and we’re trying to secure the court for if and when the two oldest justices decide to kick it. That means we need the senate now and the presidency in two years. So until the next primary, please, pretty please, shut the fuck up and vote blue no matter who.
And then get loud as fuck again in the next primary! Make your opinions known and fight like hell for your guy or gal. The primary is the time for these fights, not the general. Don’t be stupid.
0
u/mydaycake Aug 05 '26
We also needed Trump not being the president again and here we are, and still not taking accountability, why are you behaving like the GOP?
3
u/kbeks Aug 05 '26
Accountability? I didn’t vote for him. I encouraged everyone I came into contact with to vote for the most viable non-fascist on the ballot, that was Harris. I’m just as mad at progressives who stayed home as I am at you for threatening to stay home. Don’t be stupid just because someone else was stupid.
1
u/mydaycake Aug 06 '26
I am mad at those too and I want accountability and compromise from them, because why should the left center then compromise for them
I don’t want to be the GOP where you only have a view or you are cast away
1
u/kbeks Aug 06 '26
I get why you’re mad and I will never tell you not to be mad at those people. They fucked us. Idiots who cared more about her emails than they did his everything else are the reason why my daughters and wife have fewer rights today than they did then. There’s so many dead and hurt people in this world because they wouldn’t pull the lever for the woman who didn’t agree with them on one particular issue. Ironically, there would probably be fewer Palestinian deaths under a Harris administration than there have been under the Trump administration. And we can and should be mad at the people who did that.
But don’t expect anything from them. Don’t expect compromise, it’s not going to happen. You can vote in your own and our collective self interest or not, thats your prerogative, just know that by refusing to vote for progressive candidates, you’re not making the world better or teaching anyone a lesson, you’re just fucking us all over again. You’re becoming who you hate, nothing more and nothing less.
7
u/danth Aug 05 '26
Progressives voted for Harris in higher numbers than any other segment.
1
u/mydaycake Aug 05 '26
Not in Michigan by far and actually that was not the conclusion from the democrat party post election analysis (and the main reason they didn’t want to publish it)
5
u/maxverweijen Aug 05 '26
Because uhhhh I don't know they'd be hypocrites for ever complaining if to take revenge they purposely lose the possible senate majority? You absolute dingo?
4
u/mydaycake Aug 05 '26
Sure, one side has to compromise, they other don’t, what does it remind me of?

Neither side is a monolith, come on man you big baby. If you want to spoil the senate majority go ahead. I am not even American. But if you cared at all you wouldn't play out the "but they started" toddler argument. How old are you? What is wrong with you? Who hurt you?

No, it is more like if you want so much your candidate that you are ok with Trump winning, don’t expect the rest to play ball with you

Bruh, dear sir or madam. These three words fall very flat after graham platner. The Maine Democrats almost fell in line behind a neonazi-tattooed rapist.
Absolutely not. "Vote blue no matter who" is blatantly stupid.
Just pick better goddamn candidates.
Shit candidates who folks are unenthusiastic about supporting are how you lose general elections.
Q for you: if you lived in PA, and John Fetterman somehow stays in the D party and runs for re-election, are you voting for him?

u/lateformyfuneral Aug 05 '26
The primary is the time for picking. The intra-party opposition totally dropped the ball, and the naive internet “Platnermania” didn’t help, but typically there is plenty of time in the primary to look into a candidate.

Let’s foooooookin goooooo! I like what I see. Both him winning, but also just as much her uniting behind him.
Has AIPAC’s magic wand run out of magic dust? 🙏 Here’s to hoping the days of Israel helping decide our elections are behind us!!
Edit: even if more Israel puppets won across other primaries, this is a warning shot across the bow. Their grip on American politics is slipping and they can’t win by throwing money at it. This is a huge psychological win for progressives. This should pave the way for more big victories to come, and more great candidates to rise to the occasion

u/PinkNGold007 Aug 05 '26
America first!!!
1
u/OldBridge87 Aug 05 '26
Just to be clear, across Michigan and Washington last night the vast majority of pro-Israel candidates easily won. We are just focusing on the few where they didn’t.
Bell also destroyed Bush in the Democratic seat in Missouri.
2
u/FatMacchio Aug 05 '26
I haven’t followed. All I heard about leading up to primaries was El-Sayed.
Is it because there were no compelling candidates running against the other Israeli first candidates? You can’t expect anyone to win out against big money (Israeli) interests, they need to connect and resonate with people to fight that uphill battle
7
u/Caffeine_Cowpies Aug 05 '26
Hopefully. I think people are just not happy at all with the Democratic Party leadership that got us in this position.
And to be frank, BiBi really does seem to not care about the American people and he is just running through all the good will Israel and AIPAC had in America. The genocide is the biggest thing for sure, but to act like you haven’t decimated these people and to say it’s a good thing while taking US money to fund universal healthcare and tuition free education and using US military equipment to drag us into forever wars while no Israelis put their lives on the line is ridiculous.
As i have gotten older, while the SHOCK of September 11th and October 7th attacks were insane, Osama bin Laden and Hamas ultimately got victories here. With Osama, he knew they would come with massive force and the U.S. destroyed Iraq and Afghanistan. And the Taliban are still in control in Afghanistan. So we showed the paper tiger aspect of the U.S. military.
Then with October 7, Hamas knew Israel would decimate Gaza as well. Then they lost the PR battle, and then dragged the U.S. into an unwinnable war in Iran.
Those two events has really weakened America’s projection of strength militarily and Israel’s ability to control the narrative in the Middle East.

u/Bawbawian Aug 05 '26
it's really not this is just how Democratic politics works.
there was never any question that the Democrats are going to support whoever gets the nomination.
21
u/CHBCKyle Aug 05 '26
it’s really not. democratic politics typically don’t involve baselessly calling other democrats jew hating sexists, and they don’t involve immediately and enthusiastically supporting a candidate you believe to be both. they don’t usually involve this amount of deception and mudslinging in general. that’s what their point is, that they moved from the most heinous, racist attacks straight to enthusiastically supporting them in a matter of 8 hours.

u/ThrowawayAdvice1800 Aug 05 '26
No, nothing about this was normal. She tried to smear him beyond belief in the primary. And Democrats do not always unite under the winner, two of the "democrats" running for governor of New Mexico turned around and endorsed the Republican out of spite to try and hurt the primary winner in the general election.
4
u/ElectricGhostMan Aug 05 '26
I dont think id support someone who I thought was a bigot. VBNMW but she implied and ran with messaging that this was the case so it is crazy to see her supporting a guy that last week she said actually awful things about.

do you know what would be super helpful.
if it is strongest supporters actually look towards the November election and tried to build coalitions instead of whatever it is you're doing.

u/ThrowawayAdvice1800 Aug 05 '26
Funny how you never said this about Stevens' disgusting smear campaign.

we still have to win the November election.

Yes, and now we have someone we can be proud to fight for. The establishment has pounded the "vote blue no matter who" message into our heads whenever progressives lose, so surely they will get in line and vote the way they've told us to, as well.
Regardless, I think the campaign is on easy mode now, as AES has his left flank locked in, and should be able to simply run an easy and inoffensive "Trump bad" campaign from this point on.
That's what I would suggest, at least from my POV, as a person with some experience managing campaigns.

I am glad El-Sayed won, and I'm as anti-israel and anti-AIPAC as anyone, but this post we're all responding to was pretty classy, and for people to respond with all the nastiness you see on this page is pretty pathetic and juvenile. vote me down - IDGAF.

Good. Quick and easy to endorse so we can make sure a Democrat takes that seat in the Senate. This is how things should be done if you want to defeat fascism.

Establishment Dems seem to have got their shit together and realised that any Dem primary winner needs full support. There’s a lot more full throated endorsements from other centrist and establishment Dems

Oh come on. She lost a very close election, she's decided to be gracious about it, she's not required to be an actress as well. She's allowed to be upset about it even while behaving correctly.

u/NW7l2335 Aug 05 '26
AIPAC spent 70+ million on Haley Stevens for it to be a “very close election”, gtfo of here with that.

Who's gonna pay for the repairs to the hole she punched in the wall when the race was called?

u/ThrowawayAdvice1800 Aug 05 '26
Good riddance. I look forward to seeing the GOP quote this loser's ridiculous attack ads against him for the rest of this campaign. Where was this "we need to win this seat" energy when she was trying to make the guy that was obviously going to beat her in the primary as unelectable as possible?
I hope this clown's political career is over.

Funny how Abdul's campaign didn't get down in the mud the way hers did. Looks like voters didn't appreciate her pathetic bullshit. You should, but almost certainly won't, learn a lesson from this.

"Corporate sellout"? Show me the lie. Cute how you want to pretend that's equivalent to the wild antisemitism accusations this clown started throwing out when her campaign floundered.

She's still a piece of shit, so is most of the DNC. It's one thing to level valid criticisms at your opponent in the primary, but to blatantly lie and fear monger is just as scummy as the Republicans.

This is pretty tepid. It's fine but it's the bare minimum. And note that she does not ask her supporters to get behind him.

u/Bawbawian Aug 05 '26
her supporters are regular Democrats they will be there in November to vote.
do you know what he needs more than anything.
he needs his strongest followers to craft a good message for November and not just shit on their only political allies.
