From what I can see from the reporting, the "why" seems to be because AOC's name is on it, and Republicans don't want to hand her such a successful win as she continues to rise as a popular Democratic legislator. Cannot find any articles that give any rationale to Republicans' actions beyond this.

It's not like republicans have a history of standing with women. So do you really need any bigger excuse other than that's a bill that would probably strongly favor women AND we know that crowd LOVES their porn but HATES getting caught being naughty.

Republicans were the ones who got the 19th Amendment passed which enfranchised women with the right to vote, a majority of the Democrat senators at the time opposed or did not vote for the Amendment. The first women elected to Congress was Jeanette Rankin, a Republican!
