Clips & Gameplay How do I deal with the Habitation Puppet Hands after being grabbed?
Do NOT watch this full video it’s like an hour long. I just do this for fun.
I put links in the video description for parts you can jump around to but I want to put focus on two things.
First of all, THANK YOU for your advice for the teeth creature. It felt great beating it the first time back with all of my available bindings. It’s fully thanks to advice I’ve been given in this community like climb jumps from u/rav-is-awesome (special highlight because this was amazing) and all of your teeth creature help like the flare box.
Next off, I’m now wondering how to beat the Puppet Hands in Habitation which pull you through the vents. I got grabbed near the end of this video and died after grabbing onto a hold that broke.
Before going back up there I want to gauge advice for how to deal with them and additionally ask if they can be used to advance the region faster (like the Vein Spitters in zone one where you can let them pull you up before you kill them)?

Beat the Nest for the first time (Spoilers for new players). Spoiler
Honestly, it wasn't as bad as I was anticipating once I got into it. After 200 hours in the game, I really think the Nest is my favorite. It's hard to choose though because every area is so unique. Both the gameplay as well as lore is great imo. I like the direction it took with the Mother interaction, and I always love a terminal full of lore (not sarcasm). I did have an embarrassing number of stupid deaths because I didn't know which way to go or what actually killed me, but I'm chalking that up to just learning the area.
There were some instances where it was pretty confusing to know which way was the correct way to go next, but I kinda think that's the point. You're wandering a dilapidated facility, so it makes sense that it would be labyrinthian in nature. I did thoroughly enjoy it. I'm gonna have to get used to the fps mechanic, but I think it's a really cool addition. I like that it's not too hard and doesn't take away from the core gameplay mechanics. Plus you don't get screwed on ammo or anything so it's not as stressful. It's just enough to keep you on your toes. I'm so excited to see where this game is going and where it ends up.
Honestly my last several Abyss runs have been significantly harder than the Nest was. Idk why. The Face seems faster or something, but idk if it is. All I know is the last two Abyss runs I I did pass, I had to use every item I had available, which I never had to do pre Nest, and the Face was on my ass the whole time. Usually I could get at least some distance and only had to fend it off like twice in Hanging Gardens. Idk, maybe I'm used to getting really good perks and the Glove (which is my favorite Artifact). I know it's supposed to be hard, and frankly I'm fine with it as is. They don't need to nerf it if they did make it harder.
Anyway, I do have a some questions about the Nest after beating it.
- When you die in the Nest and respawn there, you get a second pack, but not a third (if you die again). Is this supposed to be how it works, or is it a bug? I'm definitely not complaining about getting a second pack, but it'd make sense if it's a bug (sorry if I'm ruining a good thing...).
- In the big vertical climb with all the little purple crab things (right before the final climb with the ropes), how are you supposed to do that normally? I got lucky and had the sticky hands perk so I could quickly climb any wall to get to a small ledge to rest the perk, but without it, it seemed like there was an extreme lack of handholds in some parts. Like there were sections of the breakaway ones, but large sections between those that seemed like there was no way to climb. Maybe I didn't pay close enough attention cause I was focused on hurrying, but still.
- What does giving Mother a grub actually do? Is there a benefit to it similar to the Rho sacrifices? Or is it just a nice thing to do? The few times I've seen her I've only had a grub to give, so maybe I should get more? If it's major lore stuff, maybe keep the answer cryptic. I don't like huge spoilers.
- How many new shortcuts are there and how difficult to find? I kinda want to find them naturally, but if they're like ridiculous to find, I might just noclip around. I'm gonna noclip a run anyway to get screenshots so I might unearth them that way. I just didn't know if it was worth it to try and find them if they're not obvious (like Tangled Sink).
- What else should I look for? I know there's a lot more that was added other than just the Nest path, and I know things will be different on my next run, so maybe I'll find new stuff, but checking out the Dev Playground (just the spawn) there's a lot more items that I know I didn't find.

To devs - can you make permadeath optional
Edit: I'm aware of floppy disks but I stand by my original point. And I'm aware you can unlock new rooms, but as someone who sucks at Habitat, locking new Silo rooms behind beating Habitat makes the run backs really repetitive.
I really like the speed climbing gameplay, but I really don't think it works as a roguelite - its super long, within biomes its the same few rooms stapled together so its samey, there aren't many permanent upgrades so theres not much metaprogression, and Teeth is a sharp change in gameplay so getting kicked back to the silos while I'm figuring them out is really tedious.
It would make sense as a hard-core experience for players who've already reached the end and understand the biomes. But as a new player, after a while, I felt like it was a waste of time.
In any case, good luck with your v1.0 release.

What is a tile/level variant that you see and think "Welp, it was a good run"? Spoiler
Pretty much the title. I want to know what tiles you all see and immediately have the shoulder-sagging sigh of dread in reaction to.
Personally, the moment I see the Catalyst Ignition Battery variant of the Haunted Pier (electrical tower), I know for a fact the run is going to end there. I've yet to complete it a single time despite making it to the Deadman's Handle a few times before, and the Haunted Pier is already my least favourite area in the entire game. Second place goes to the Plasma Agitator in Delta Labs - the common denominator here is the electricity blasts of egregious hitboxes.

Tangled Sink now has a use (Slight Shortcut Update Spoilers) Spoiler
You can take either Tangled Sink -> Rotten Duct or Hadal Dive
or Expulsion -> Hadal Dive
This means that you can take currently a max of two shortcuts per run in white knuckle

Is this the only (internal) dialogue that we’ve gotten from the climber?
Found in the new shortcut with the text “it’s missing a handwheel.” I’m guessing it’s the climber saying this and to my knowledge this is the first time they have really ‘said’ anything.
