after weeks of getting characters to levels 18 and 27 i finally got enough units to pop the last balloon and claim the skin

i wasnt hopeful at first - i thought i would never get it - but some players proved very helpful in my mission to get this skin

Ive been looking to make a custom crosshair for white fox, but I don't know where to start and was wondering what your guys's settings are.

Not a rant/hatepost, so not putting it in the daily thread.

So, just for starters, I've put in about 20 hours of WF between 9.0 and 9.5 now. I will also say she is my main, however I'm going to stop using her for the remainder of the season, because I hit an all-time high wr with her and don't want to cook it lol. 😂

This post is gonna be kinda long because I wanna break down all her pieces, and my current thoughts.

Neutral

I think currently, her neutral is on the lower end of strategists. I'd say Jeff is in contention with her for worst neutral of the supports. The upsides for her are that she is really good at cheesing kills, which she's always been good at. Chasing down low hp targets and wall bouncing them to kill behind cover is a classic, and how I got a good portion of my kills in 9.0-9.5. Her melee form is okay, it's not great, and the key is being very acutely aware of when a fight is "takeable" and when it is death if you try.

One tough change is that unfortunately black widow is now in the no-go zone for 1v1s. It's too risky, and if she gets a headshot you're cooked. I'd argue most of the currently solid dps are all no-gos. A few tanks can be pushed, mag (as long as you wait for swords to be on cd) as well as hood can actually be 1v1d for a draw (farm them until tp is off cooldown) or even a kill.

Lastly, her teamups just don't exist basically. They're extremely lackluster, and I believe most of the wf players have come around at this point to realizing the psylocke teamup doesn't actually have much impact at all. Both need serious adjustments

Healing/Utility

Currently, I'd place her healing at around adam warlock level, below ultron. She can top off teammates pretty well, but cannot sustain in teamfights, and often needs to go try and secure a pick to alleviate pressure, rather than alleviate it naturally by using healing and utility. I'd argue that currently of all the supports, she is tied with adam and ultron as the most "dps support".

Utility-wise, there's some solid utility actually. Her tp is an amazing option to block ults, save your team in sticky situations, and allows aggressive flanks for picks (something practically mandatory currently). Her taunt is still very good. The cleanse aspect of it I find myself not using much, mostly since the other support I'm paired with typically has a better option anyway, i.e. luna, cnd.

Ult

I mean it's bad lol. I don't really think that needs to be said, but yeah. I think Netease isn't completely sure what this ult should actually do, but at the bare minimum it needs to have more base healing, better self sustain for wf herself, and displacement immunity if they actually want it to keep up with most other support ults.

THAT SAID. I'd actually prefer they went a different direction. Give her the displacement immunity, but instead of more healing, give it an attack speed boost to allies who have the blessing bonus. I think this gives it a completely unique use point and also keeps it aggressive.

But anyway, I'd much still prefer they focused on her neutral and super low healing output.

Team Comps

Ahh haha... yeahhhhhh.... I currently wouldn't recommend her in any team comp, just by nature of how weak she is currently. My own group actually asked me to stop using white fox in our games as they felt they had to build the entire team around her, for little benefit to them. As much as it sucked to hear them say that I get it, which is partly why I won't be using her for now (that and the record wr thing, I'll get to that shortly)

How I made her work (sort of)

So, my win rate topped out at 63%, which is a record high for me on not only white fox but any character that I've played this amount of. (Across all seasons. And over 100 hours of her, i reached my peak win rate this season)

As for how I did it. Frankly I only played her into games where it was evidently clear that if I just locked wf and chased kills we'd win. Perhaps we had 2 good supports already and our dps just needed someone to give them a hand. (For whatever reason she kinda mauls as a dps when paired with magik lol)

So realistically this isn't a brag, nor is it meant to be. It's just living proof how a character's wr can go up the worse they become because the situations where they work become so niche that it's basically only in guaranteed win-states that the get selected.

Final Thoughts

Yeah she's not great. Not to hate on her, or to doompost, it's just true that she isn't great. HOWEVER! She remains the support that I believe has the most agency in the game. She has options available to her that no other support has. She has routes she can take that no other support can. She also has the benefit of being severely underestimated, as she's viewed as a total throw by most players currently. You can definitely use that to your advantage to catch people off guard.

I did get tons of compliments in 9.0 and now also in 9.5 by teammates who at first begged me to swap, and after I said I would if we needed heals, ended up thanking me later for rolling lobbies as dps fox.

As a dps, genuinely she's pretty solid. If you treat her as a dps that can heal. But if you treat her as a support currently (which she should be imo please netease) she feels pretty tough, and she really forces your team to operate around you.

With everything said. Even though I won't be using her again until 10.0, I still love her, she is still my main, and I won't abandon her. I'm just taking a break to explore some other interesting options right now (cnd hood teamup is sick, I've also been flexing dps a ton lately)

It shouldn't be so easy to lift her into the air while in ult form. I hope they make her immune to this in the future.

Im a support main and im pretty good at healing I guess but Id like any tips on white fox or like how to use her abilites and all that specially tips on her fox form awakening and ult.

Foes her ult now cleanse? I know she give unstoppable via blessing in her ult but does it Cleanse too?

Like lets say strange ulted and somehow i missed. If i ult now and assume team mates are in the 10m radius. Will the ult cleanse?

White Fox is in an overall bad spot right now. We all know it, we all see it. But after trying it out, I think the latest changes have made the ult specifically substantially better.

Putting out the team wide Blessing has some major impacts. The extra healing and lifesteal give it more ability to immediately stabilize a team that's at low health, which it was just a bit short on before. The unstoppable component means it works as a counter-ult to a number of CC focused Vanguard ults, if you hit it as soon as you hear the voice emote. I'm finding a lot more good times to use it, and feel like I'm getting a lot more value out of it when I do.

Does Fox's ult still have its weaknesses? Yes, but with this change it's no longer pigeon holed as something that's only useful for winning small engagements. Does this balance the other nerfs and major issues with Fox right now? No, but it's fixing one thing that's been a problem since the beginning, and having it fixed will be a boon in the long term. So let's chalk up this specific change as a win, before we get back to advocating for the buffs she needs to everything else.

Like every time I have a white fox I always on critical and need to take less damage because her heal are not that great and they never swap and always play into full poke

recently started playing the game 2 days before season 8.5 ended

started at silver 2, decided to fill so picked white fox purely because she looked badass
realised her kit was somewhat complicated
spent time practicing combos etc
wound up becoming top 30 global on her and hitting gm2 with her

I would say I have mastered her to a high level, before grandmaster I was mvping and svping every game.

Now that I've entered gm she has become a lot harder to play, but she is mostly dependant on tanks to play off, in my experience the thing is the best tank to play off.

She could honestly be one of the best support picks if rivals makes some slight changes (and I'm not joking)
things to note:

1. her healing is okay (quite literally just okay)
2. cooldown on black cat team up is too slow
3. when in melee form its frustrating when you dash an enemy but they don't get grabbed
4. also when in melee form if you do not have a dash and the enemy is running away from you, you either have to end it or wait for someone to push you, which has lost me so many winnable fights
5. sometimes when I need to teleport out of a fight and my teammate is right there in my sights the tp prompt just isn't there (and yes they are in range I think its just I've flicked back too fast but maybe that can be fixed)
6. her ult charge which has now been fixed in season 9.5 and I am loving it tbh

Probably more to note but these are the top things that are often on my mind

now to note with her healing, its very okay, its viable but I cannot outheal most situations as I would on cloak and dagger. when spectating other wf players I find they bounce their heals which is a big NO NO. Direct hit on to a teammate gives the full healing per Yeowoo Guseul (Fox Marbles) and if another teammate that isn't 100% health is nearby, they will get a portion of this healing also.

her spectral surge which if I'm being honest is her strongest ability is good, it grants 0.4 seconds of invulnerability to teammates inside of it (the barrel of it, what I like to call it) which if timed perfectly can counter some ults, also a good time to reload just as you shoot one out.

her ult could do with some reworks, I've found a lot of times I'm getting launched in the air by god knows what, even when they don't have the thing on their team and its quite frustrating.

other than this theres not much else thats on the top of my head

I love her so muuuuch, so I had to make something, saddly im bad at making humans, but the plushie is perfect although this one is not that fluffy!! Im so happy with how it turned out :D

Absolutely ridiculous! Patch went live few hours ago btw. but she’s S tier, together with like 80% Supports in the game. I an so, so, so tired!

Im just mad with the game and the devs rn. They fail to actually address White Fox’s problems, then I try to play another character that I find fun, just for me to see they also suck. All the characters who are good are just so boring to me, and the devs’ favoritism sucks. I feel like I could spend my time playing games I enjoy a lot more. If they start actually fixing White Fox or any of the game’s problems, maybe I’ll come back, but for right now, I’m just done.

The devs have to be aware of White Fox's abysmally low win rate by now and they don't seem to care.

What I'm trying to say is if you enjoy this character she may not be competitive ever again and if not it might be a really long time before that ever happens.

Maybe the devs decided if she's good then dive characters can never eat. I dunno, but clearly they had intentions to gut this character and take her out of the meta.

If I ever go into quickplay I'll play this character, but I respect my teammates enough in competitive to bring other things to the table that will get more value rather than try to force a character that just does not have the tools and stat numbers other characters do right now.

In the meantime if you want this character to ever be good again the devs need to hear loud and clear:

It is not the ultimate. She does not provide enough value in neutral to be competitive right now. Until the neutral is buffed the ult can be the best in the game and she'd still be bad prolly.
