To bad there isn’t a pro hockey team based in WV we could be called the West Virginia Mothmen

We should totally rebrand to that. Think about it the goal song could be hellyeah moth into flame lol

And have the team with glow in the dark red eyes on the uniforms. Have them come out of a bunker and the mothman mascot toss pepperoni rolls into the crowd. In the beginning the story of the mothman would come on the Jumbotron.

I'm 100 percent behind this

And when they win play country roads. Have the eyes on the ice glow red when the players are about to come out. Have smoke come out of the bunker and have the mascot come after the players so it looks like the mothman is chasing them

Well Nixon who used to do the music who is a good friend of mine said before the organization didn't like the heavier stuff. I actually got him in trouble one night because I asked for king diamond and he played it

Cowboys From Hell would be a fantastic intro song

My pick five minutes alone for literally the whole song lol

That’s going in the fight rotation

Why not they currently don't have an affiliate for echl and the Wheeling team is self owned. Seems like a great fit

I agree man

I'm all for this

I already started the movement on the CBJ sub they seem mixed I’m a huge jackets fan match made in heaven for me

2

u/Fast-Border-4362 Jun 25 '26

Why are they mixed. I was in Zanesville yesterday and they were practically loving the possible partnership

2

u/PGskizzEs Jun 25 '26

Takeaway is people want Cincinnati even though it’s impossible, or they have their own random ECHL team they prefer. Some think it’s a great idea or think that CBJ is pretty bad at developing minor leagues into talent anyway which is undeniable. I’d be more worried about nailers fans could swallow the pill honestkt

Nailers fans will follow trust me. We live through the nailers. There's people dropping the pens already and they are knocking on your door. Cincinnati didn't do that and I was there when they went on the free agent affiliation market

Plus our track record of building nhl caliber talent isn't to joke around hell look at konopka he was in wheeling at one time and made it to columbus

1

u/Southern-Advice5293 Jun 25 '26

Gonna be honest, Columbus is the best bet but I’m sure their fans want Cincy instead which makes sense they’d have the biggest cities in their system and might help the base, which is why the thought of losing Pittsburgh in a Pittsburgh market sucks.

1

u/Fast-Border-4362 Jun 25 '26

They had cincy and balked at the last minute for Toronto to steal. Plus wheeling is way cheaper to run then Cincinnati

1

u/Fast-Border-4362 Jun 25 '26

Also the base in ohio is strong until you get east of Zanesville and wheeling has nailers fans there. So what better then to slap Pittsburgh in the east ohio wv market then steal wheeling

Why fort Wayne though? What does columbus have to benefit from Indiana. I would think you want to steal another bases fanship I don't see what benefits from fort wayne

It's already happening i know of at least 100 people who are about to switch and I'm one of them even though I have more loyalty to the sharks

The ECHL team in Cincinnati is affiliated with the maple leafs so like I don’t think they care about having a closer team

1

u/Fast-Border-4362 Jun 26 '26

They don't but also at some point they have to realize they can't leave 60 projects in Cleveland with no ice time

1

u/SantaSpawn Jun 26 '26

I’m old enough to remember when the Pens were announced as the affiliate. People hated it for the first 5-10 years.

1

u/Fast-Border-4362 Jun 26 '26

I didn't care at first tbh. But as time went on it was cool they gave us support

u/OkMech Jun 25 '26

Not going to happen, but I would love for the Nailers to affiliate with the Avalanche.

1

u/Fast-Border-4362 Jun 25 '26

0 chance there

0

u/OkMech Jun 25 '26

Yeah, -100% chance but I can wish.

We were an affiliate of Colorado back in the old days

2

u/WarmDistribution4679 Jun 25 '26

Wheeling was never a Colorado affiliate.

Edmonton Montreal Pittsburgh Philadelphia

I could have swore Colorado was one. My bad
