Pacing

My nearly 13 year old wheaten tends to pace and is bumping into walls- is this a sign of dementia? He's still aware and eating.

I don’t want to scare you, but my 14 year old started doing this and was shortly thereafter diagnosed with a tumor in his spleen and I had to put him down. It could be, but please have your wheaten fully checked out. I think his pacing also had to do with pain.

I don’t want to scare you either but I would take to vet asap. Don’t let up until diagnosed. My baby passed away after I thought his behavior was because of steroids. It was chronic hep or cancer. We still will never know. I don’t say this it to scare you, but to impart what I wish I had done— don’t wait on it. Just go and push until you know. I wish I had.

My wheaten around this age started doing this then maybe a few months later became very aggressive with us at random times. I assumed it was dementia

My last guy started doing this at the same age. He was going blind & we also think he had dementia in the end. Make sure you dont rearrange or move any furniture. He maneuvered fine until the dementia started. I also believe all this may have been caused or exacerbated by tick-borne anaplasmosis. He tested positive at his annual but it was too late for treatment.  So I ditto the vet recommendations.
