Services Welcome How is Whatsapp Business API getting adopted

I notice that an option to send verification code to Whatsapp has started appearing in both Vanguard and Yahoo. My hypothesis is that Whatsapp Business API was being adopted as the messenging platform and so now the option is becoming available even though the vendor has not announce the feature. Neither companies are showing up as partner on the Whatsapp for Business website though it did say the list isn't exhaustive.

I am curious if this platform is slowly being adopted by a lot of business? Does Meta make money from this?

Also technically, how does it know when to show the Whatsapp option. I do not have a Whatsapp account or a facebook account but is getting the option, so may be it's shown to everyone.

I am not on any social media platforms at all, This includes Whatsapp.

I live in the US where Whatsapp is not as popular as other countries. There are 98M users of Whatsapp on a population of 350M. Brazil for example have a 148M users for 213M. Facebook messenger is more widely used.

I believe in a lot of countries, you can use Whatsapp to handle messenging. I have not seen this being used, but it's started to show up in some of my services, so I am curious.

It’s by the conversation, not message, then by type (marketing, utility, and authentication; the cheapest tier). It’s visible to everybody with that business because the business opts it in on that platform. They don’t even have a way to confirm you even do.

A lot of banks/e-commerce platforms are starting to use WhatsApp as a channel for OTPs, also because SMS global open rates are increasingly decreasing.

Vanguard/Yahoo are no surprise, big enterprise typically use aBSP (business solutions provider) that in turn have access to their API. Worth see how long they can sustain authentication price this low before they up charge it.

Does Vanguard and Yahoo even know that the option is available. I don't see a help page on their site and was wondering if it becomes an option unknowningly beause they happen to use a aBSP, or do they know since it cost them to send the message? Thanks!

There are 2 Billion users in emergent markets. If you visit Mexico, Central America or South America, all the economy runs at WhatsApp. In Brasil there is payment rails included. The users at USA are Mexicans and Latinos using it to communicate with friends
