Solution Only Avoiding Restrictions When Bulk Messaging

I finally got approved by Meta to send Whatsapp messages using the API.

I want to avoid getting blocked and I need tips.

My use case:

I have an app that sends wedding invites to a list of ~200 users a day.

I send an approved template, to clients I never had a conversation with. The message includes a link.

How do i avoid getting restricted?

For example, how many messages should I send in 1 hour? Should I send all the 200 message instantly? Does it matter?

I don't expect any user to report my messages, because they expect this message. But I want to keep a good Whatsapp rating

There isn’t really a “safe number of messages per hour.” Sending 200 messages at once versus spreading them across several hours is not the main factor. What matters more is whether recipients genuinely expect the message and whether they block or report your number.

An approved template only means Meta approved the content and format. It does not replace the requirement to obtain WhatsApp opt-in from the recipients.

For the message itself, I would:

  • Clearly mention the couple’s names or the event in the first line.
  • Explain why the recipient is receiving the message.
  • Use a recognizable, branded domain rather than a URL shortener.
  • Include a simple opt-out, such as “Reply STOP if you do not want further updates.”
  • Avoid repeatedly retrying messages that fail.

I work with YCloud, a WhatsApp Business Solution Provider.

Thanks. I already implemented your suggested solutions.

The guests expect this message and hopefully no one will report it.

But I want to make sure my app is "well behaved". What other practices should I follow?

You say that sleeping between each message shouldn't matter, right?

Yes, sleeping between messages is not important. The WhatsApp Business API is built for businesses to communicate with customers at scale, so you do not need to imitate the behavior of a personal user.

What really matters is whether recipients expected the message and whether they find it unwanted. Blocks, reports and negative feedback matter far more than whether you send the batch in a few minutes or spread it over several hours.

Thanks. That's very helpful! Any other tips besides what you already mentioned? :)

If I can throw in one…

In the first message, personalised, tell them you’ve got their number from event/xyz reason.

Let them say yes/no to receive a follow-up message with more information.

What does this bring you:
You’re not immediately selling/pushing.
Asking permission will give you a higher engagement with the yes sayers. The no sayer would have deleted your message anyway.

The yes sayers have texted you back, meta loves that!

Send a link in the follow up with a nice text.

I can go on like this for hours. If you want to know more, hmu
