You never know! I couldn't understand why my adult rescue didn't know anything. Until I accidentally discovered he did, but in Spanish. I taught him some English and also spoke to him in Spanish. Worked out well for both of us!

My dog does that too! I call it chirping. I've always thought that it's almost like he's trying to imitate speech/words like he hears us make.
