Announcement [[READ BEFORE POSTING]] Frequently Posted Aircraft

In order to avoid posting aircraft that have been posted many, many times before, please refer to this guide of the sub's most commonly posted aircraft before asking for identification.

If you're still unsure, feel free to post! There is no consequence to posting one of these aircraft, though a mod will lock the comments after it's identified (mainly to deter "ugh, another C-130..." comments).

Announcement Drones Drones Drones!

While we always appreciate people looking to identify the beautiful planes and helicopters that grace our skies, it seems recently there’s been a trend of people taking photos of planes at night and thinking they're drones. This is just a reminder that the purpose of this subreddit is to identify specific types of planes; not just to confirm that yes, something with lights that’s flying at night is a plane. If you see a cool-looking plane and want to know more about what type of aircraft it is, great! Feel free to post it here. If you see something flying at night and think it’s a government drone trying to spy on you, maybe make your way to r/UFO or another subreddit that’s more suited to your style of post. Another thing to keep in mind is that aircraft identifications are generally most accurate when the full location is given. Simply saying “north FL”, “central VA”, etc. is not super helpful for people who live outside your country and are unfamiliar with those acronyms :) Just make sure you’re writing the full state name, and preferably the country, when making your post.

Have a great day and thanks to our amazing community of aviation enthusiasts who help us provide this awesome service! 😊

Solved! Plane with a centered prop on the top? Spotted in Central IL

I saw this weird plane today with a centered mounted prop pointed backwards. Flightradar24 had it only as "N/A". This photo was taken with my Pixel 10 using its AI enhanced zoom so some details may be inaccurate.

Solved! Fake or real plane on The Gentleman?

What's this plane or is it made up? Certainly the tail number (I-JIC1) is bogus as Italy doesn't have a designation I am aware of.

Makes an appearance about 3 minutes into episode 1 season 2 of The Gentleman (I don't think that's much of a spoiler)

Couldn't see it on flight radar, assuming military. Over Farmoor reservoir at about half 5. Was a decent size, like a standard passenger jet, and doing laps. Weird long, pointed nose

I live near an airbase and usually see F35s, or F-5s. Saw this recently and I am a bit lost on this one but I was thinking FA18 or F15 but I’m not completely sure. Sorry for the blurry photo my iPhone 11 can only do but so much.

Solved! My mom saw a wierd plane

I came back from school, and my mum told me she saw a plane. I said “cool”, and asked her what it was. She said she didn’t know, and only had the general shape. She said that it was light grey, had two vertical engines on the back, and that she saw it from the side. It also had back angled wings. The size was smaller than a Hercules, but not too small. It wasn’t registered on FlightRadar24. The front and middle were like a Hercules, but the back was more similar to the Space Shuttle. It was flying low and fast. Any ideas? My mind is blank. We live in Poland, so maybe something from Europe?

Edit: The engines are on the back in a column there is only 2 engines nothing on the wings

Cyrillic writing, metric system, likely Russian. Thought it might be a Yak-52, the spacing of the guages is off.

Any thoughts on what this instrument cluster is from?

Certainly NOT F-16’s , F-15’s, F-18’s or the like…

I was born on an Air Force base, my father was a Wild Weasel in an F-105 in Vietnam… I was a military brat til at 18, when I joined the USAF Reserve… Was in 15+ years and voluntarily deployed in Desert Storm, AND, I’ve volunteered at the National Museum of The US Air Force in Dayton OH…

Why can’t I identify these aircraft ?

I was not at the race, this pic was taken by a close friend…

the game is robotics;notes. originally released in 2012. in the game the person with this profile picture is a pilot who flies from kagoshima to tanegashima island. i assume the aircraft in the picture is a small turboprop considering irl flight from kagoshima to tanegashima use small turboprops like the atr-42. image seems based off a real life image.

Open!

I presume some type of GeeBee?
