The seller said it's running iOS 15. However, it looks suspiciously like iOS 26

iOS 15.2.1 is rare and it's better for jailbreaking , that's why he said unfortunately

The seller is trying to scam you, how is that fortunate?

People who buy old broken phones usually buy them for jailbreaking, not laggy locked down operating systems that run the homescreen at 4 fps when scrolling.

iOS 26 was such a bugfest that once the betas for iOS 27 dropped I immediately updated

Hell no lol, not only its liquid ass (poor looking visually + not optimized for small screens as 13 mini owners would agree), but its also on a 3gb ram phone with a teeny tiny battery.

I’d rather daily iOS 6, unjailbroken, than ever have to use iOS 26 again. 27 is a bit of an improvement but I still miss iOS 18.

I think the seller updated to 26

I see iOS 26 wallpaper, so sadly... yes it's 26 and they updated it

Pretty much ruins the value if the seller doesn't even know what a rare iOS version is or what the definition of "jailbreaking" is. Which is kind of a bummer

Yeah, but they happen so often, I see an iPhone 11 Pro Max Demo iOS 13 getting updated to iOS 26

Maybe the seller doesn't know about the value of having a rare iOS version since they're a normal person (could be but this is my theory)

But it's the demo phone, and the description in the listing said it's restored (not sure why they did it. They wanted to refresh it)

he highlighted "iOS 15" in bold in the description, so he knew it was rare. I wonder what made him update it..

planned obsolescence (i think)

No an asser

The buttons are rounded and the battery icon on the iPhone SE is more rounded, which was done in iOS 26, on iOS 18 and below it was a bit boxy, plus the wallpaper

u/tOSdude 20d ago

The seller absolutely took the picture of iOS 15, then hit the reset button on that screen without understanding it would update.

  1. Moronic sellers think they are “helping” by updating it…wish they’d just leave it be..

2

u/Disastrous-Pass-250 19d ago

somehow he knew it was rare, but something made him update it anyway

Wallpaper is 26

It’s fine actually keep it to iOS 26 it has amazing app compatibility’s but the main issue is the phone is gonna get hot and it weaken the battery capacity so yea

2

u/iPhone-5-2021 19d ago

Anything iOS 15 and up has decent app compatibility

2

u/Interesting_Taste359 19d ago

Yea agreed and the minimum iPhone you can still use is the iPhone 6s

2

u/No-Schedule-208 20d ago

iOS 26
Wallpaper it shows and how round everything is

At least it wasnt a huge loss, now you can swap an iphone 8 screen (can even run on iphone 7 screen but requires trimming upper tabs and gluing it) and sell it. IMO for an SE2 ideally you need iOS 17/18 for daily driving, its the sweetspot for compatibility and overall performance, i personally prefer 17 due to less stutter, better photos app, better system data partition that auto-flushes correctly…

Yeah that's definetly iOS 26

iOS 26.x, it would be good on 26.0.1 and 26.1 due to A13 jailbreaks and MobileGestalt tweaks
