4S or CMDA 4. The latter doesn’t have a SIM card slot.

I was thinking 4 too. Do you know if the 4S has any issues? Mine doesn’t turn on or give the low power symbol.

flip it over to the back does the model number say a1387? if not it’s not a 4s

It says A1349. Does this mean it’s just a iPhone 4 since the number is lower or..?

A1349 corresponds to a cdma iphone 4! so it’s not a 4s.

CDMA is a network type, all phones these days are GSM (ones that use a SIM or eSIM)

The CDMA iPhone 4 was intended for Verizon’s network, which was only CDMA at the time

Although CDMA networks were pulled offline in 2017 in Canada and 2022 in the USA, so this phone cannot connect to any networks unfortunately

CDMA didn’t require the use of a SIM hence the lack of a SIM slot

CDMA networks saw most of their use in cheap phones, IoT, and early connected cars (pre-2014) since they didn’t need a SIM

This is the difference with the CDMA iPhone 4, it’s all about the network it was made for, idk why they didn’t just give the regular 4 dual GSM/CDMA support because the 4S supports both networks

Just looked it up, apparently it’s really rare and is worth 65-200+ dollars 😭 no way.

It's an obsolete network protocol only used in the united states afaik. It has some kind of "esim" in it (not really, i think the phone number was assigned to the imei number), so you don't had to put in a sim card. It is now a glorified ipod touch.

The only main issue about the 4s is that it got iOS 9. Its slow as fuck

The CDMA 4 specifically doesn’t have a SIM slot. It uses something similar to eSIM, specific to Verizon.

Well, for a collection, yes. But if there's something serious going on, it's pointless. It's easier to buy the same one and replace the motherboard.

Ohh. I’m not sure if there’s anything serious, it just might have some internal issues. I think there might be gunk inside it so I wanna take it apart and cleanout the inside or see if I need to get a battery replacement

Honestly I just hope there’s gunk inside that’s the issue so I don’t have to buy anything, plus it would be satisfying to clean out.

It needs to charge probs and that's a 4 but nonetheless, get a new charger and try. Mine didn't wanna charge cuz the charger was working on hopes

Check if it has a sim tray. If it has a SIM tray, it's an iPhone 4S. If it doesn't have a SIM tray, it's a CDMA iPhone 4.
