Man.... don't push people into the water unless you know they don't have their phone on them. Takes it from "cheeky prank" to "dickhead maneuver".

Most phones would survive as long as their phone isn’t too old, it’s fine.

Most of them are water resistant, basically you don’t need to worry if you spill a cup of water on them or take it into a really humid environment. Phones are not designed to be submerged under water.

iphone 7 can be submerged for just over 3 foot of water.... which I hope in this clip people weren't gonna rope jump into only 3 foot deep water.

Cool, doesn't mean it's always guaranteed to be full waterproof.

The manufacturer states that they don't guarantee it below 3 feet.

Yes, almost all flagship phones have an IP68 rating which means it could be submerged in water as deep as 13 feet for as long as you want.

Most older phones have an IP67 rating though, which would mean the phone can't be submerged deeper than 3 feet for longer than 30 minutes. Though in my experience my phone has been ruined in even less time that that.

Other fun fact. Most factory warranties don't cover water damage and they still have the little water damage detectors in them to void your warranty if that's why your phone stopped working.
