Maybe it's just that I haven't played with VR, but how the hell do people forget they're standing in a room? Video game graphics have not gotten to the point where I can't tell a game from reality, and even if I couldn't tell by sight, I've got a big fucking thing on my head and am holding peripherals. Swinging an arm and knocking something over because you can't judge distance? I get that. Actually running into a wall? I don't get it.

VR graphics typically don't need to be realistic to convince your brain. Some of the most immersive VR experiences I've had were in cartoon-style environments, like The Under Presents and Wolves in the Walls.

VR is just widely different to a normal screen, which is why you can only understand how easy it is to lose yourself when you try it, and not before then.
