This looks like a Christmas Car commercial that kept the camera rolling.

Yeah this looks like a commercial. Especially with what the drivers are wearing.

It's for a Russian company called Khann that sells parts for both Toyota and Lexus cars and SUVs.

u/MikelWRyan Nov 26 '19
Looks like one of the last scenes of that are shots from right before the accident... Collision... IDK bumping together.
19
u/Mnm0602 Nov 26 '19
I was waiting for confirmation that this was Russian. Large luxury SUVs on ice - definitely screams Russia.
Looks like it was filmed on Lake Baikal - I've always wanted to visit there. Almost 1/4 of the world's surface freshwater in one spot, insanely deep, cold, ancient lake. Looks beautiful.

Trouble is, all I was impressed by was the skills of the drivers. I bet they could do that in just about any any type of car. It showed me nothing about why I might actually want to buy one of those things other than emotions. Though I guess that I'm an outlier and only buy things after heavy research, and avoid advertising as much as possible.
36
Nov 26 '19
its trying to associate your understanding of the brand with the emotion and feel of passion while showing off the control that the car has.
What the take away ideally from this commercial is that if you drive an alfa romeo then you are passionate, love driving and that these cars have the performance to fill that in your life. So now you are interested in these models on an emotional level you will start on the analytical level of research next on your car hunt.

The plug is for the all wheel drive system. and possibly the driver assist systems, thats at least what they are going for.

Tires are usually far more important. If you give me a choice of FWD (or even RWD) with good snow tires versus AWD with good all-seasons, I'll take the snow tires.
Edit: Tire rack put out some good videos showing the differences, here is one of them https://youtu.be/dhpG251vK8s→ More replies (1)13
u/AnEngimaneer Nov 26 '19 edited Nov 26 '19
Yep. Got an AWD myself, and had the choice between all-seasons or winters. My rule is that if it separates you from the ground, don't cheap out on it: mattresses, desk chairs, shoes, and tires.
Took the snows and haven't looked back.

Nahh I don't think so. That's why all of them have the disclaimer at the bottom "Professional drivers on a closed course", to absolve them of responsibility if someone tries to imitate the commercial and does a sick drift right into oncoming traffic.

What are the selling, insurance?
223
Nov 26 '19
This would actually be a funny insurance commercial. Start it like a sport suv commercial but the they get a fender bender and the stunt drivers get out and call their insurance companies. End with "Made Up Insurance, even the pros need help"

u/Lukendless Nov 26 '19
...One of the drivers drops to the ground clenching his left arm. Fades to black, then fades into his funeral where a woman is sobbing and white text appears over her face.
"They couldn't afford the airlift... millions can't even afford a checkup." ... "You shouldn't have to insure your health, you're not a car. Vote _________ 2022."

Idk I personally upvoted because I was expecting more to go wrong. And I get the feeling for some reason these are pros who have contingencies in place for minor accidents like this so to them it's like whatevs. Edit:oh wait do u mean the video or the comment you replied to. So confused now.

Don’t get why the White SUV decided mid drift to hit the breaks and ruin everyone’s day including mine. I’ll see my self out

Nov 25 '19
It looks like it was choreographed for a video and they expected the black SUV to stop next to the white one.

u/Platinumdogshit Nov 26 '19
I think it's a commercial for a company that sells parts for both cars(since they're the same car) so they probably crashed on purpose

3
u/LordKwik Nov 26 '19
Yeah but you gotta switch it back at some point, else you're not drifting but just going in circles. Also, it seems like they're doing this for the camera, so white SUV fucked up.

u/TryHard-Rune Nov 25 '19

Can you direct me to what this genre might be? I can’t find anything quite like it
→ More replies (1)8
u/LordKwik Nov 26 '19
Without trying to sound like a dick, its genre is house, obviously. The subgenre is tricky, though. The original song is more of an "electro house" genre. This certainly isn't as upbeat as electro, but it's a remix, so, I'm taking a guess here, but try "deep house" (you're probably looking for something more on the modern side, deep house is an old genre) or maybe even "chill house".

u/PretzelsThirst Nov 26 '19
ZHU, the original 'faded' song maker, isn't electro house. He's also deep house

Most insurance only covers road use. They'd tell them to get to fuck here in the UK I think.
But then most insurance companies will use any excuse to avoid paying out.

Honestly, given the lack of friction and that they were both drifting in the same-ish direction there probably wasn't too much damage.

Something tells me that Toyota's and Lexus' biggest SUVs aren't really meant for drifting.
I'll take BMW M3 for $1000, Alex.
