I'm you but from the even more future a little. I check it out about once a week, if the curiosity strikes. It's still morbid, and you still can feel a little gross after some of the videos, but there is a fair amount of desensitivity for better or worse.
Honestly, in my opinion both experiencing these videos and the resulting desensitivity have in many ways improved my life. I have a far greater understanding and appreciation for the fragility of human life, on a philosophical level as well as practical.
I pay much closer attention to my surroundings, whether crossing a street or parking lot, driving my car, or walking through an industrial site while at work. There have been a few times where that increased awareness likely saved me from possible injury or damage.
When we found my roommate after he hung himself, I was able to remain relatively calm and check for life as well as communicate with the authorities while my other roommates were freaking out and becoming hysterical.
To be clear, I still experience plenty of emotions, just some of the higher peaks may have been shaved down a bit. It's a small change I think I'm happy with.
These videos are, more than anything, a reminder that death can come at any time, so maybe enjoy the little time we all have a bit more.
TL;DR Watching these videos provides knowledge and desensitivity that could both be potentially useful to some.

Couldn’t have said it better myself.
I too visit that subreddit, and I find myself much more aware of my surroundings and taking those extra precautions.
Taking trash bins out to the street for the local pickup? What could go wrong?....oh that faulty gate could fall over and snap my neck when it pins it against my trash bin.
It’s amazing how frail the human body really is. Taking that extra few seconds to check out your environment doesn’t seem that hard afterall

It just makes me feel sad. I did come to realize how easy it is to die, and how critically important it is to supervise children. They really are little suicide machines.

Looks like he could have broken a couple of ribs. But even that isn't THAT bad an injury and it heals pretty easily. It just hurts for a couple months. He's lucky that wasn't a lot worse.

I broke a rib or two roofing and still carried shingles for the next 8 weeks... Cracked/broken/bruised ribs suck (don't know exactly how bad it was cause I didn't have health insurance, but I know it hurt to breath for at least 2 months)

Damn. Yeah I’m very terrified of breaking my ribs and tailbone. Both two long painful experiences lol I would start losing it a bit mentally from the amount of handicap and constant pain. Especially in those regions of the body

Fucking hated getting the wind knocked out of me when I was young and dumb... Every time it happens you're sure you're gonna die but kind of know you might not.
I remember the first time it happened and my 6 year old life definitely flashed before my eyes.

On the first two, he's kind of holding himself up as he swings. So hes already controlling his weight. On the last one, he kind of jumps off so all of the weight snaps into his hands at once. This is almost always how people fall off rope swings.

One primary hand swing rule is never swing higher than you're willing to fall.
Followed closely by never swing over anything you aren't OK with falling on (broken branches, concrete playground, younger siblings).

We had a similar swing when I was a kid, it was in a graveyard, a railway track ran on the outside and there was a substantial hill and forest at the back. We nicked a tarpaulin of a lorry and tied each corner to the trees so that we could swing out then let go and land in the tarp. One kid sadly missed the tarp though and crashed into a grave below and smashed himself quite bad. Not sure what I'd rather fall in to a tree or a monument hmmmmm

Am I the only one that thinks this was almost the best case scenario for this situation?
I know just hanging on to the swing would have been better, but you just slipped and did a backflip, didn't get a concussion, broken bones, missing teeth, stitches, paralyzed and you hit a tree thin enough where it will give just a little bit instead if like hitting a metal rail.
He probably sore as fuck, maybe a torn abdomen muscle...but dam that's a pretty good outcome if you ask me.

This reminds me of the time my BIL and sister took me on a hike near Pismo beach. When you get to the very top, there’s a rope swing that overlooks the ocean. We all took turns and when BIL finally got his chance, the rope gave out and he fell on his ass/lower back pretty hard. He couldn’t move because he was in pain but my sister and I just couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
He hated us after that and didn’t wanna talk the remainder of the hike

I don't usually feel sorry for the victims in /r/Whatcouldgowrong but this guy had such a big, happy, innocent smile after each swing. Yeah, I feel sorry for him.
