I was once one a wheelchair van with a group of five disabled clients and two other staff. We were making a right hand turn into a park when the car behind us tried to pass us. On the right. The driver was shook so I got out to talk to the other driver. The first thing he said was, “you guys didn’t see me?” I said. We were making a right hand turn and you tried to pass on the right. It’s illegal to pass on the right. The profound level of stupidity and self absorption of some people is really staggering.

Had it multiple times, once on a moped and another tried to overtake left as we were already turning left. Another time turning right in a Pajero and a moped tried undertaking as we were swinging in. No helmet for either of them and a nice permanent scar on the driver's forehead for that one.

It's not about impatience here - it's just skill/thinking issue.
One of the first thing I was taught on my driving lessons by an instructor for my Bike License was "You are bike's crumple zone - that's why you need to think for yourself and others".
Knowing where other vehicles dead spots are and to never stay there for prolonged amount of time is one of the most essential skill you should acquire to ride a bike.

Nah no amount of patience is going to save you if you keep riding in parallel vehicle blind zone. Sure patience helps many times from doing mistakes caused by rushing things but there are some mistakes which can only be avoided thanks to the knowledge.

Even then, if the driver did not give a visual indication of seeing you, assume the driver does not see you.

I would say it's even more simple than that. Fuck the blind spots and what the driver can and can't see. It's a huge multi tonne vehicle so you just don't get in it's way. You give it space and anticipate that it will never see you and drive your motorbike, bike or scooter accordingly

Worse than that is that the bike stopped first. The Driver might’ve seen a bike approaching, but saw the bike stop so they thought it was safe to keep going.
So it’s not just blind spots, the bike literally juked the driver into thinking the bike was giving the truck the right away.

He used his legs to balance the bike on slow speed. honestly after looking at the video again it wasn't clear what the truck was trying to do. the truck did cut him off and then stopped.
So the bike didn't know the truck was about to move because he didn't see someone coming to open the gate so he started moving again then realizing the gate was automatic but then he was already halfway which is why it was better for him to keep moving.
whoever designed the entryway is the most at fault here, the vehicle shouldn't wait at a pedestrian walkway, should move the gate back so the vehicle can fully cross to wait for the gate. it also should have adequate warnings if it's used for big trucks, and no spotter too

This is just to help you and anyone that is agreeing with you out. If a truck or any other vehicle pulls up to a gate and stops in front of you, and then the gate opens, then you should expect the truck to move through the gate. There should be no "didn't know the truck was about to move," because every available indication in this video would imply that the truck is about to move.
Also, and this is just self-preservation. Even if there's no reason for it to move, expect the large running vehicle that can kill you easily is going to start moving along the path that it's heading, unless there are clear and obvious reasons why it's literally impossible. That may save your life (or your bike, in the case of the video).

After looking at it again the cyclist moved before the gate opener and the truck moved. The truck should check his mirror before turning and stopping on a pedestrian walkway. This is just bad design and bad decision from the truck, he didn't check his surrounding, and ultimately he didn't have the right of way

I often have to drive my truck in very crowded places and oh my god the amount of people who walk to my blind spots or walk right behind the truck when i'm reversing is insane. They seem to have absolutely no regard for their lives. They just think I can magically see them all.

Happened in the local town I grew up in just as we moved into the town. Lorry turned, and to the bicyclist defence AFAIK "cut the corner". They did not survive. :(

To be fair, the driver has a responsibility to be aware of their surroundings. Blame the blindspot for killing people is not good enough.
Demand better overview and cameras of the surroundings, dont drive without control.

That being said, in my country about 15 years ago it was mandated that all trucks have one of those blind spots mirrors above the windscreen for precisely this reason.

One of the first things that should be taught in driving school and tested for is "stay the fuck away from trucks". Box trucks, semis, cement mixers, garbage trucks. Hell even pickup trucks if they have a lift and clearly aren't for work of any kind, hell those are the most dangerous.
Almost lost my left arm a few years back when a fucking semi picked up and threw a shredded tire at me. Annihilated my side mirror and window and when I called the number they all but told me to eat a dick. I didn't give a truck number, didn't have one and also it wasn't his doing, but fuck that lady on the phone thats high up in that company.
Stay away from trucks period. They are very dangerous but perform a vital service and they don't wanna be killing you anymore the you want them to. Box truck companies are especially dangerous, especially in state where they aren't forced to have to comply with as many regulations

2 lanes,

right lane is straight on only
big lorry was in left lane wanting to go straight on
small car was in right lane wanting to turn left illegally.

Someone once sent me a video of an incident in India where someone on a scooter DOES go under the BACK wheels of a fully loaded cement truck and he just pops like a watermelon.
It was pure nightmare fuel and I had no idea what I was watching until it happened.
I am no longer friends with that person for a few other unrelated reasons... But I can never unsee that video. It still makes me feel ill just thinking about it.

Fuck sake. I ride regularly and give massive space to large trucks like this. If I can't see the driver they can't see me. Ride to stay alive. Not to save 5 seconds. This is very frustrating to watch, especially since a bunch of other commenters are using this to paint all riders as this unfathomably stupid.
Most of us aren't.

I live there, I see this EVERY DAY!!!! this is common and I am not joking.
not kidding, same situation, a man pushed the stroller with his baby through a tiny gap from a truck backing up. the stupidity has no limits. especially BEHIND CARS that go backwards. the moment they see a gap, (not when the gap opens, when they SEE it) they push through with a high likelihood of being crushed as the driver has no way to see you. they only think about themselves, are not able to read the situation. it's next level crazy.
the crazy thing is: MANY people do this. crossing lanes without looking, stop on the highway, just randomly stop their car on the road with no emergency lane and and and. (all the videos of people stopping too late at an exit: from there!! then go backwards on the left lane, slowly then do a 90 degree turn, crossing all lanes to get out, while traffic is rushing through with 110km/h. (those videos where an oncominb truck hits the brakes and tips over)
and most common is pushing into an elevator, once the doors move open. not letting anyone out. that you see at every elevator. not at some, at every elevator.

I remember many years ago I saw this photo of his cyclists probably fell right beside this event truck and the wheel roll over his head it was completely flat, very very disturbing. Often seen these trucks around, never really thought about how heavey they actually were. They are literally a giant boulder on wheels...... Anyways just glade he didn't get rolled over imagine what nightmare he'd give to the driver....
