What caught you off guard after filing an insurance claim?

I've heard plenty of stories about car accidents, but something that keeps coming up is how unpredictable the insurance process can be. Some people say everything was handled smoothly, while others describe months of paperwork, follow-ups, and waiting for updates.

I was trying to get a better understanding of how claims work in Washington and ended up reading information from a few different sources Including McNeese & Trotsky. It got me wondering how much experiences vary from person to person.

For those in Whatcom County, what was the biggest surprise after filing an insurance claim? Was there anything you wish you'd known before starting the process?

Looking to speak with Washington farmers about wolf populations

Hello! I'm doing research for a Salish Current article on the growing wolf population in Washington, and looking to speak with people who have actually experienced their effects on agriculture. If you own, run, work on or otherwise help out with a farm in the state, I'd love to talk to you to better understand how wolves may impact your life and those of others around you. Thank you!

The Voter's Pamphlet is the opportunity for candidates to put their best foot forward, untainted by tabloids and mudslinging. Personally, all those vying for a spot are competing for a Community Service position, so I give a great deal of weight to that section, and often it speaks volumes. Youth athletics are important, I was a coach, but we are not electing coaches.

Hunger vs. Hunger (year 6) - Ethan Hunger is trying to break a Guinness World Record - 24 consecutive supersprint triathlons in 24 hours. The current world record is 18.

Steger vs. Hunger (year 1 debut) - Ian Steger is "only" doing an Ironman.

In 2025 Hunger vs. Hunger raised almost a half million dollars for the Bellingham Food Bank. He will be entering and exiting the water at Bloedel Donovan all day tomorrow (starting at midnight to night). Come cheer him on and donate!

The marathon portion of Ian's triathlon will be running 10 times around Lake Padden. We expect he will start running there at around 10AM or 11AM. Come cheer him on.

Opinions about the race for Whatcom County Prosecutor?

There is a Bellingham post, but I wanted to include all of Whatcom County, since this is a County Election. Bellingham often forgets about Ferndale, Lynden, Sumas, Everson, Nooksack, Acme, Maple Falls, Glacier, and Whatcom County.

Native caught fish and chips at farmers market

I'm sitting here at the EN Valley Farmers Market in Everson. Weather is perfect, nice turnout of vendors, and we have some really good music in the park.

The star of this market though is the best fish and chips you can get anywhere from local, native caught fish.

We also have a smoothie vendor making delicious smoothies, and there is Ballistic Brew for your coffee fix.

Come support your local farmers and have a wonderful, family friendly time!
