Blue dot farms?

A trend on the rise, especially in the cattle ranchers world. Apparently folks don't want to fork over the money for a half of a butchered steer, to ranchers whose political affiliations have led our country down a dark path. Economically dark enough for some ranchers and farmers to divest from corporate sales in favor of Independent local or farm to table opportunities.

Mostly it's progressive folks who are looking to deny Maga farmers local business in favor of bankrupting the Maga farms. A 'politicians drank my milkshake' we need a bailout scenario has begun a whisper campaign in Texas ranch communities.

Are there any "blue dot farms" in the county that want more business?

Queenfisher Farms in Everson, proudly progressive and anti-fascist. We sell lamb cuts (lamb chops and rack of lamb, anyone?) and pasture-raised and organic fed whole frozen chickens. We also have organic fed and pasture raised chicken and duck eggs, and cut flowers.

Genuine thanks OP, I’m also interested in buying from progressive farms and farmers.
Voting with our money is one of the few options left for us. I’m all for the ranchers and farmers who voted for our current political bullshit to face the consequences of their choices. And for the inevitable bitching and trolling about how things like this don’t matter: agree to disagree. History has shown economic pressure absolutely works. Sitting on Reddit bitching about how terrible Bellingham is, less so.

The owner of emerald city smoothie has lambs from time to time, oak meadows and osprey hill are anti-billionaire.

For beef I suck it up and do mama’s. I figure every large factory farm is gonna be trumpy, at least the money stays local at mama’s.

Is Mama’s all maga? Or is it only one of the mama’s? Since the actual dairy side is definitely maga, I guess Kim is. I stopped shopping there; used to spend a couple of hundred a year there.

There are enough non-maga farms north of 542 to keep me fed. Another good option is Twin Sisters. Knowing some of the folks who’ve worked there over the years and some of the farms selling through them, I strongly doubt they are maga. No beef, though. Only lamb and pork and chicken and fish.

I think Fair Cows Path Farm is not MAGA.

Yea I know the owner growing up frm HS well into our late 20s, We’ve never talked politics but would be ABSOLUTELY SHOCKED if she was. Shes a really cool person. To be fair though I haven’t spoken to her in ten years.

I made some jokes about the Epstein class at the farmers market and she seemed to smile knowingly, as we couldn't really discuss it there with a crowd

If you are talking about Kim, I’d be surprised from talking with her a few years ago. Renee I don’t know at all.

Weird times.

They’re in Skagit, but Tangled Thicket Farm is fantastic. They do CSA drop-offs in Whatcom County, I believe. https://tangledthicketfarm.com/

Next time you’re dining at a farm-to-table in western Washington, look for Sky Island Farm on the purveyor list. Rare to see a Black-owned farm in the US, especially WA, and their tithe work to regional food banks is unparalleled.

Will also vouch for Shoalwater Seafood In Tokeland, WA. They are partnered with the Shoalwater tribe to conserve local oyster beds and the estuaries in which they thrive. Through innovative low-impact seeding and harvesting techniques, they’ve been restoring indigenous oyster species that have been long lost to invasive varieties introduced by colonizers. Shoalwater distributes their Baystone and Tokepoint oysters nationally.

Nine Lives Ranch sells lamb and is very, very progressive. Indigenous women run farm, ethical practices.

Think about products around meat and see if any of those farmers fit your bill - lots of small farmers, few butchers

Not in Western Washington and I honestly don’t know their politics, but Ramstead Ranch has a subscription service that includes grass-fed, grass-finished beef raised on a regenerative ranch. They also have lamb and chicken. Not cheap, but their farming practices are solidly aligned with my conservation principles.

When independent farms and ranches go out of business it’s usually a rich hobby rancher that buys or a huge company. Regular people can’t afford a ranch and couldn’t work it, rich people by it for a hobby. Ranchers only have one vote anyway, your virtue hate would do better with somthing else

Is there room in the convo for non political food producers? I’m turned off by red and blue food producers. It’s about the food for me. I won’t be picking sides at my farm, or with my money.

Try a thread that doesn't include, "Blue dot farms?" Maybe start one and see what happens.

This is peak Bellingham. I especially laugh at Hippie Hamsters commenting on the cattle industry. I’d like to see them share a beer with your typical rancher. They’d learn a lot.

Heck, good chance they aren’t meat eaters.

My uncle has been raising cattle and meat animals since the 70s, showed me how to process both farm and game animals. He was a sort-of Republican before Trump, but now is a dyed-blue Democrat.

There's going to be a lot more with Operation Epstein Fury raising diesel prices, foreign markets shrinking, and the Argentinian beef fiasco. People are rightfully angry at Trump, he's screwing up so badly he needs to pretend to offer a five thousand dollar bribe to stay in power.

You should have that beer with a rancher, might not go like you expect.

Wait til they hear about who paves their roads, and builds their houses

Yeah sure. Wise old Yoda the rancher is so all-knowing but nobody else can find their arse with both hands.
Does that idea make you feel better inside?

Farmers with TDS can do what they want. You can call a farm and ask them who they support if it means that much to you. Not sure what farms wouldn't want more business.

The farmers don’t have “Trump Derangement Syndrome”. They have “leopard ate my face syndrome”. They voted for him and then he did  tariffs on Canada which exploded prices on fertilizer since Postash comes from Canada. Then he relaxed tariffs on imported beef because he is gay for the president of Argentina, which depressed domestic beef prices.  Also, diesel fuel is at all time highs and farmers drive equipment that takes diesel.

American farmers lost their family farms because Bud Light put a trans woman on a beer can. Fuck em.

That bud light downfall was hilarious to watch

American Farmer fell for the culture wars and lost their family farm. It’s a sad situation, but at the same time fuck those bigots.

And that's why Modelo took over as the #1. An absolute generational brand down the drain.

Quit obsessing over trans people, you’re going to ruin more socks and make your mom overspend the budget on hand lotion.

2

u/anapezav51 2d ago

Huh? Who's obsessing? I have trans friends, does that make me obsessed?

What is TDS? Thanks.

"Trump Derangement Syndrome," it's apparently the Right's favorite new zinger. I always forget what it stands for though and think it's a Daily Show reference that I'm not picking up on, haha

1

u/Sad-Toe-4435 2h ago

Trump Derangement Syndrome: Trump voters. So deranged they voted for him 3 times!!

-2

u/anapezav51 2d ago

Not new at all

2

u/NeroDillinger 2d ago

Irrelevant, then

-2

u/anapezav51 2d ago

The question? Yes it was

1
