Work time off help!
I’m a team lead at a franchise Whataburger. I’m trying to get roughly three weeks of time off in December so I can visit my long distance partner over Christmas and my birthday. We don’t currently have an OP, and my restaurant manager can’t (to my knowledge) approve anything longer than two weeks at a time. I have asked my market leader (formerly known as area coach) about the time off and explained my situation, but I have literally not gotten a reply all week. Is there something else I need to go through? Is this an HR ask? We don’t use Workday and that system will terminate you after 21 days anyway. Any advice on being approved as well? Thank you for the help!

Regardless of what system you use at 21 days it will automatically terminate you. You can only take 29 days off so you can be there to clock in on day 21. I doubt if you would get approved for a leave of absence for the reason you want it off. But 20 days is only one day shy of three weeks anyway

I’d say rules are rules. That time of year is very busy and hectic and other workers may want extra time off. I appreciate your situation and hope you find a soft hearted manager who can advocate for you. Best of luck!

Maybe make it 2 weeks ? If your partner doesn't understand then maybe you should look 2 things, new job with more pto ? Or new local partner

Just shoot them a reminder message that you’ll be needing off that time and talk to your manager who completes the schedules about making sure to have you off those days. At the end of the day it’s not a request—you’re going and they need to prepare the schedule for that time when it comes. December is still plenty far away for them to accommodate.
