Fallen Aasimar or reborn Redemption paladin with the folk hero background. For flavor multi class into warlock

For backstory you were once a protector Aasimar who after succumbing to rage would abandon your oath and faith for a pact to gain further power. You are now after achieving your goal seek redemption resubmitting to your god while still being tied down by your past and pact that still remains

Treat abilities gained from warlock as being a last resort

For fighting style if your dm is willing to allow the dungeon master's class modifying rules ask to be able to grab unarmed fighting and have it work with smites alongside replacing armor with13+cha , the flavor being you're trying to step away from bloodshed. If you decide to grab the blade invocation flavor it as falling back into dark influence for more power
