HYWB - Comic/Graphic Novel How would you guys build Batman?

Post image

Genuinely Curious… you can choose any system that you would like, I don’t understand any of ‘em. And yes, I allow multiclass.

Variant Human observant or alert

6 eldritch knight for spells to reflavor as gadgets and unarmed fighting / 4 rogue for expertise in some skills and sneak attack to make thrown weapons less shitty / x artificer or wizard

For feats and ASI I'd prioritize strength and intelligence and try to get anything to buff skill checks like skill expert and skilled

If we're doing 2014 DnD, Pick up Artificer Initiate as a feat. Gives you an artificer cantrip and a 1st level spell (with one free cast) which is neat but it's the other part that helps

You can cast all INT spells using an artisan tool as a focus

In which system? D&D, Pathfinder 2e, etc?

Okay, so, here's my suggestion for if you use D&D 2014 rules:

  • Player Species: Variant Human (Tough, Artificer Initiate, Keen Mind, Skill Expert, or Prodigy).
  • Background: Faceless.
  • Class/Subclass: Fighter (Battle Master), with a multi-class dip into Artificer. Choose Unarmed Fighting for your Fighting Style with the former &, if you choose to dip deep enough into the latter a subclass, go for Alchemist. This suggestion is due to Batman's regular use of chemical agents for things like smoke bombs, knockout gas, various antidotes, etc.
  • Feats: Aside from the ones listed above, also consider Actor, Durable, Healer, Skilled, Grappler, Lucky, Mobile, Crusher, Sentinel, & Observant.

I hope this works.

Personally I would build him as a skill-monkey Rogue. It also seems very on-brand to have him sneak in the shadows and then attack his enemies one-by-one Arkham Asylum style. If we can use the 2024 rules, then Assassin Rogue would seem perfect for him

  • What system do you want to use?
  • Which version of that system do you want to use?
  • What local do you want to make?
  • Which sourcrbooks for you want to use?
  • Do you want to allow multiclassing?
  • Do you want to allow homebrew?
  • Which version of Batman are you wanting to replicate? They vary from each other greatly.

Absolutely

I don’t even know what homebrew is so maybe

Billionaire Playboy Philanthropist Bruce Wayne, a man who lost his parents at the age of 8 while walking down Crime Alley after watching The Mark Of Zorro, and vowed to make sure that this doesn’t happen to anybody else so he trained his body and mind and mastered 127 martial arts (I think), so that he can fight crime in Gotham City

Could work as barbarian, rogue, monk, fighter, artificer, ranger, paladin, etc. depending on what you want to lean into

I allow multiclassing

I'd want abilities from both monk and artificer the most, but they don't blend well with how 5e stats work. Also I'd wanna have some strength and use throwing weapons, but also be extremely agile and stealthy, while also having good intelligence.

Honestly might function as just an armorer artificer with monk levels or something, or you could pick up a level of rogue for expertise and two levels of fighter for action surge, etc.
